Goeie bliksem!!! Ek sal mos aaapK@k mal gaan as iemand dit aan my fiets doen!!!

Just make sure that what ever took the paint off like that have not attacked the resin in the carbon's as well... You will end up with issues down the line it that is the case.

Yip my fear for the OP as well....I mean how aggressive must the stuff be to do that. Almost unbelievable.

Just imagine the pivots, hubs, headset....

That looks like a Vipa. As far as i know they have carbon stays.... Is that white paint on there? Where is the graphics thats normally on the stay?

My guess they broke the stay somehow and did a botched repair. Not good  :cursing:

does anyone know said bike shop?????, lets get them here before this escalates the same as the last few bike shops getting slated and maybe for once we can have a "happy ending" without the threats of law suites and lawyers

absobloodylutely!

I for one just want to know which cleaner they used for

1. to never clean my bike with and

2. to strip paint and get iodized bits shiny

OP: I hope for your sake carbon integrity on the chainstay is not compromised in any way...

Wow! The small parts & crank must have been left overnight, or for a day or 3, in some serious cleaning solvent. I know of a case where Clean Green polished up a Shimano blade to a high polish, after 3 days of soaking. The frame, I can't even guess what happened there, unless the chainstay guard was cleaned with the same solvent, and not washed/rinsed thoroughly prior to re-attaching it to the bike. Hope they come to the party. Sad that in this day and age, 9 out of 10 people wont own their mistakes, and just make good... Good Luck.

I am not normally one to complain but I really think that this needs to be brought to public attention. After the Sabie Xperience last year I sent my bike to Brandon at RedHub cycles for some much needed TLC. I have a Momsen Vipa 2014, which I have sent to Brandon many times before and I have had no complaints up until now.

When I got my bike back from him on 18 Dec, the cranks, top spacers and top cap, and the chain stay were all 'bleached'. Brandon first tried to blame the problem on Shimano saying that they had a problem with their 'iodising process' (yet I have had the bike since Sept and the damage only happened now??? and not just on the Shimano parts, but on the frame as well) he later admitted that the damaged caused by

look forward to their reply, but I have a query on something that doesn't quite add up. Did you buy the bike in Sep 2014, and it's already been in for lots of issues in, 4 months?

I meant I agree with your post; that the bike shop should get on here to give their side of the story  :P

I have absobloodylutely no idea what they have/had to say

Good point and theory...

its probably more likely that the cranks were removed and replaced with another set. The shop probably stripped the bike, the parts went "missing" and they simply used whatever was around. I just cannot believe that those cranks were stripped and polished accidentally. The bleaching on the chainstay - cant explain. This is pretty weird

I know the Op, and I could not believe what the cranks look like. They are shinier than the XTR cranks I had professionally polished. The frame damage was hidden under a slap sock thing...
