Predominantly brewing and drinking beer, as well as a bit of trailrun-commute to work as an alternative to the normal mtb commute. Hiking with my laaitie in a kiddie-hiking backpack = strength training (the little bugger is getting heavy...)

Nothing beats Mountain biking, everything else I do simply because I can't ride (due to work). Spinning for cardio, weights for making me think I'm stronger so that I go faster downhill, core exercises for balance.

Nothing works better than running. I'm focusing on running this year but can easily do a 40km ride after doing no riding for 3 months

These days my knees hurt just thinking about running.

I go with the time honoured sleeping and having an energetic kid around.

Running. You can't fake running.

And you don't have to run far or fast.

A 45 minute stretch twice a week will compliment your cycling and raise your overall fitness.

Running at this level shouldn't cause injuries.

Yip ,running you can't fake

I am not sure that stretching will increase overall fitness though .

For mtbking I find that my forearms sometimes take strain, especially when I have been off the mtb for a long time (like in the winter months). Doing some hi rep low weight (dumbbell) wrist forearm / exercises such as palm up and palm down wrist curls, hammer curls and using a gyro ball helps.

Overall it’s difficult to beat running and swimming for good cross training benefits.

If you want to keep it simple and train at home without the hassle of going out running or to a pool then some simple body weight exercises such as press ups, plank variations, balance board exercises also work well.
