I have kids, so by the time i come back from a ride I have used up all my free time credits, I am lucky to wash my bike once a month!!! I do put oil on the chain much more often, cos those guys are expensive!!!!!!!

Make it a family thing. Get the kids to wash their bikes while you wash yours. Even better, train them to wash yours too while you shout instructions from a deck chair with beer in hand.

Bike wash:  that's why I have a teenager son, among other things they're useful for.  He has to work for that new Giant XTC Advanced SL frame I bought him.

You are doing much better than me with teenagers. I usually have to resort to blackmail or bribery, real SA way! ;)

Even my F650GS at BMW cost nothing...

Dude! Considering they Serviced your bike 23 times, Removed and reinstalled something 12 times, repaired the wiring on your indicator 9 times, and..... test rode it 3 times, I should hope your wash was "free" :P

The 3 test ride units are free! I wonder how they serviced it 23 times and repaired wiring 9 times.

They tend to develop better hearing when they know them getting stuff is dependent on me getting stuff done.

Not all bike shops have the courtesy to do a complimentary wash and lube.

But the ones that do will see me coming back.

All it takes is 10 minutes, water, a lappie and a couple drops of lube.

Having said that one has to be reasonable.

If you're going to take your bike in for general maintenance and its caked in mud.

Then you should pay for a propper cleaning.

My old LBS in Stellenbosch charged I think R70 for a bike wash too. I would always specify that they should not wash my bike.

The bike wash costs just a little less than the actual service...

Here in switz..... they don't clean your bike unless its to dirty for them to do the requested work and you will get klapped $$$ if they need to wash it, so most people wash the bikes before taking them in for a service etc...

It costs me 2Chf (+/- R22) and about 15 - 20 minutes to wash my bike myself at the local car wash

i just want to know why they had to test ride it 3 times???

Wheelie practice perhaps.. :whistling:

How does a bike with one spark plug cost so much to service. (or do I really know nothing about motor bikes)?

Well, they did service it 23 times... Should be good for the next 230000km or so, right?!?...

Just a note. BMW wire repair was taking insulation tape and "fixing" the wire. They did refund me for that

Hmm, do you know anything about the twin spark 650 motor [emoji39]? And do you know how to do every single repair on a motorbike? Cause I will not be able to replace the water pump with the tools I have. That was the main reason the bike went for the service
