Nothing much, and no real specials. Got quoted a "show special" at the Oakley stand, R1000 more than at CWC.

Damn, so I should have bought the tyres on EVOBIKES rather than wait!!

Thanks for this post - This is the first year that chips are compulsory, some people may think they done the race before and there are no checks for chips - But this year there are a series of gates where chips will be checked.

RaceTec will have a station at the back of the start in case someone forgets their chip.

and for 2nd lap?

Saw people getting caught in better groups last year and hauled out at the gates. It's a no-no. Plain and simple.

If you want to ride with friends who have better seeding, they will have to drop back to your group, which they can do without any problem.

HIJACK and a bit off-topic:

Had quite a few affirmative shoppers checking me out yesterday, especially at the traffic lights. Apparently my vehicle was falling apart because everyone indicated that there is something seriaaasly wrong and that I must roll down my window so that they can speak to me........gave them a  bird.

Wonder what it will be like on the day of the race?? Last year there were a few incidents of......................now how does one put this in a PC manner.

Take care people and remember it is always your fault for bringing temptation.......

Planning on racing the first lap hard in A batch. I then want to do a second loop with some friends and help them through. If I wear the chip, my first lap results are going to be lost and over-written. How do you solve this problem if you have to wear a chip?

Not doing a double for any charity or anything and I am seeded in A batch. just want to help a few friends on the second loop.

Any suggestions....

I'm in A batch   Will also be doing a second lap at around 10:04 eish. Should be enough time to catch my breath, get a drink and get the the start again.

You will need a chip to get into the gates (first time and second). However you might want to remove your chip from your ankle or bike for the second lap so as not to give a weird timing result.

A lot of this is based on the vehicle you drive... What brand etc... I have few problems and feel safe in my car

@Craig this has been discussed a few pages back but the consensus is that you keep the chip on to enter through the start gates, take off the chip and keep in order for the timing mats not pick up the chip and off you go for lap 2.

But if you take it off and put it in your back pocket, what if the timing mats pick up the chip? Then your first lap is gone! Is it worth the risk?

Same here.

I have tinted windows in my Veyron so they can't really see if I have a Rolex on my arm.

What if you wrap it in foil? or some other material that will prevent reading?
