Bought this chinese carbon seatpost of a hub member last year. Was brand new. I think the make was Dashine. Anyway, out on the trail yesterday, riding on a flat'ish gravel road, and BANG!! Seat snaps off, and I'm nearly sodomised by the remaining seatpost.

So it's not even a year old, fairly hard riding(but xc riding), but most of the technical stuff your standing anyway...so I cant see why this this would just break, other than the fact its just rubbish quality.

And I always wondered why this "Carbon" seatpost wasn't much lighter than some Alu posts, and its coz it filled with Pewter, or whatever cheap and nasty stuff they decided to fill it with.

I guess I get to go shopping for a new seatpost :whistling:

I have a unused Thomson Elite I am sending back to CRC as i fitted an old post to my new build.

What diameter do you need as we can maybe do a deal on a QUALITY seatpost ?

Mine is 27.2mm. What price range you looking at? Saw a NukeProof that Iwan is selling at R500.

Eina.... That could have gone horribly wrong

Agree as mentioned by others.... Thomson post is the way to go....

As far as im concerned a carbon seatpost has no place on a mtb.

This I've learnt the hard way....but it couldve been harder if you know what I mean....hehe

Interesting design, clearly a two piece design and it snapped where the two pieces joined.

I've sold almost 300 carbon seatposts of a different design and I've had one failure reported, a 27.2mm that was used on a cx single speed bike.

I had an Easton EC90 snap about 6 years ago. It happens.
