Should get a more respectable bench mark for this at last

Well at least until Martin has a go...

To be honest I think Wiggins will beat Martin.

Im not a Wiggins fan but he has the track experience and he is a mad fast time trialer.

I really like the part about "getting the bike out the shed and seeing how far you can go in an hour"

I reckon I could get close to maybe 30km tops !

I wish the Brits will get over themselves a bit now. What has his title got to do with his record attempt? Nobody really cares what your title is...

I am sure he will do well. I hope it is a mark that can stretch Spartacus a bit.

Seems you do care... if you didn't care then it wouldn't have annoyed you. :)

He's a Sir like a doctor is a doctor and Major is a Major. Sir Twiggy of Pomville.

Sparticus isn't even in the frame. Martin will be the challenger.

Aah I forgot : The Queen of England and Australia bestowed this on him. Apologies. (Joke) The rest of the world thinks he is a very good bike rider. Maybe like Eddy or Marianne or many others that just go by their first names - no title needed. Maybe he can set a mark for Tony (without a title).

Anyway I am generally irritated by the Royalty crap and I doubt that he is the one insisting on it, so I am mainly aiming my scorn at the press.

Getting all bitter and twisted over nothing of importance there.

My opinion of this guy has been swayed so much over the last year or so. Didn'tt care too much for him when he won the Tour, but lately I have taken a bit of a liking. I'm really hopnig he'll push the Boardman record. It's a stretch, but if there is someone that can do it, it's him.

I like him....go Brad!!!

+1 on that.

At least he will give Fabian a goal to break.....GO Spartacus

The thing that made Voigt's hr record so cool was that he wasn't a track racer nor a brilliant TT, and it was Jens of course. . PRINCESS is a very accomplished track racer and a great TT.. so is it really such a challenge for him?

We shall see I guess... it's a track, so Wiggo has that knowledge and expertise. But it's also as flat as a pancake, so it's about power, and Martin takes that comfortably in my view, and the distance won't exactly be a factor for either really with many time trials being around that mark.

Hopefully find out within the next year or so

He's rather confident:

"It sounds a bit horrible to say but I could break the record tomorrow. But I don’t just want to break it, I want to put it right up there, as far out of reach as I can," Wiggins told The Times. "I've got 55km in my head and I think it’s realistic. And I think if I do it, it will stand for 20 years.

"

"I know I can average 430 watts for an hour, do that tomorrow," Wiggins said. "The challenge is dealing with the heat, the crowd, pacing yourself early when the crowd are egging you on. Not doing a Gerrard and coming on, booting someone and getting sent off in a minute. It's about control, lap after lap, for 220 of them."
