does the law say you are not allowed to use cell phone while driving ?

AFAIK while the engine is running(obviously put into place before stop start technology) you are not allowed to even hold your phone.

The way I understand it is that you are not permitted to operate any electronic devices while driving. That covers iPods etc.

does this also cover GPS systems ?

Lefty I presume if the GPS is then not part of the car it could also get you into trouble ?

Yes . When you get into a vehicle it is because you have to get from A to B . Not to mess around with all your stupid gadgets , put on your makeup or read the paper .

The GPS itself usually warns you not to set/adjust/etc. the unit while driving.

You are supposed to set it up before you drive (or pull over)

I see that car around..

"what if I had to phone my husband?"  Where has she been for all this time, under a rock?

With an attitude like that I'm surprised she is married.

Pretty easy car to spot, Would be a pity if she left it in a parking lot all alone and some stray shopping trolley accidentally rolled into it             hard and fast. :whistling:

GPS should be set before you start your journey. At ORTIA its a bit sily because your GPS cannot connect when under several stories of reinforced concrete, so you have to drive outside, stop on the side of the road or petrol station and set it there.
