Who needs a GoPro?

Very cool but unfortunately drones are illegal here. But who polices that? I'v never seen the SACAA rock up at a trailseeker event and fine the operator of the drone that's filming us at the start.

Also as said above it doesn't last long so only really suitable if your doing a specific shoot.

And if you prepared to risk it...you can hack it to GoPro Hero 5 Black specs...seems they may have used the 5 guts but turned off some of the features of the 5...google that...

Really cool. I just always wonder how or whether these gizmos are aware of trees/power lines etc. Just imagine your pride and joy following and filming you doing that monster climb to the mast when BAM! 10 Grand in sy moer in...

this was just what I was thinking it would look so cool on forest trails following you the footage would be awesome but I don't think it would make it out in 1 piece.

Both of these are the same camera. Some people call the new ‘basic’ Hero simply the ‘Hero’ where some call it the ‘Hero 2018’ to differentiate it from the original Hero.

 

I’d still rather get the older Hero 5 Black. Same form factor, but can do more than the 2018. 2018 can’t do simultaneous photo and video, and some other stuff I tend to use.

 

Look for online reviews comparing the 5 and 2018.

 

If you look around you’ll get some old stock 5 for not much more.

Drones are illegal... but toys aren't... seems like a grey area still. (Just don't fly near an airport or any other sensitive site)

Drones are not illegal, they are just governed under different regulations.

I don't think anyone needs a gopro or a drone.... Watching your mates video's of 'getting rad' is about as exciting as watching VHS tapes of your grandparents holidays.

 

I'm sure it was rad to do, but 99.99999% of the time it just looks lame and boring. That 0.0000001% is when he wipes out and hits a tree.

Have to agree. Bought a GoPro last year, used it in holiday, and have never even looked at the vids again since.

I use mine pretty often. I dont want a massive camera dangling from my neck when we go on holiday so it’s lekker that it fits in my pocket. I have once used it on my bike and wont do that again. I use the chesty when fishing, lekker angle and I enjoy watching the vids. I reccon in my case it is money well spent.
