Ville rider Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 My Thule G2 3-bike rack was stolen off the back of my Fortuner this morning at Meerendal. It was locked on the tow bar but somehow someone managed to get it off. I was parked on the right hand side amongst other cars and the Spur Schoolsbike race was on the go so there were loads of people around.If anyone saw anything strange or sees one for sale in Cape Town let me know.Thanks

Thor Buttox Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Came back from Bloemendal this am, and realised I hadn't locked my Thule the whole time it was parked there. Thought I was lucky... Sorry to hear, man. Don't know how no one can see people lugging a rack around though!

Dumb bunch of Capie thieves, they don't know that it is easier to steal a Fortuner than it is to steal a Thule bike rack.

Just goes to show these guys have figured out that if you are blatant enough people will assume you have the right to be there.

Just goes to show these guys have figured out that if you are blatant enough people will assume you have the right to be there. Don't assume these guys fit the profile of the "typical thief" you might easily notice. They seemingly do a very good job of blending in with the other cyclists. My Thule G2 3-bike rack was stolen off the back of my Fortuner this morning at Meerendal. Bought myself a Thule G2 recently, was a bit dubious about riding around with a R5K attachment to my car only secured by a plastic lock thingy - guess my doubts were correct, very easy to steal and must be bloody tempting for the thiefs out there
DJLouw Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I know that you get a universal key apparently at Thule shop that works on the knobs (old and new (carbonFrame) knobs). Same key as the lock on the tow bar thou. After hearing that from the shop in Bellville I will be locking the rack in the boot.
