Oval chainrings

The qrings will help, regardless of the time you would spend on them. the tricky part is to figure out which ocp position is best for you, for now go with OCP3.

What I am afraid of is my hams cramping with the change, they are weak as it is and gave in at about 106km on sunday at the R4S so don't want the changes to mess up my riding at the Argus.

Glutes will feel it, but will help tremendously. keep it on OCP3, hamstrings will feel it more on OCP4&5.

Just to let you know, I use to train on round rings and race on Oval rings

Can't comment on the Rotor rings, but I have an Oval ring on my mtb and it just works.

Could feel a huge difference in the beginning when climbing etc. but did not take any time for me to adapt to it.

thanks gents. Now I am really confused about what to do... If they arrive tomorrow then will maybe get them fitted and will have till the 28th to test them out.

Thanks. Was wondering about this. I would have oval on MTB and round on Rd. Don't want one to upset the other.

still confused as to how a 34T oval ring behaves like a 36T on the flats and 32 on the climbs when it pulls exactly the same amount of chain as a 34T round ring per crank revolution....

or is this one of those creationist arguments? Just believe and you will be loved...

The only I can think that can happen is if you change your relation to the rings, so when you climb you must climb like caleb ewan and when you on the flats you need to sit off the back of the saddle.

Unless you stop and physically move the chainring around for the down hills.

to those running Q-Rings on your road bikes, how long did it take for your body to adapt to the change ?

From what I have read, it engages your hamstrings a lot more so the muscle would need time to adapt and get stronger...

I have my Q-rings on order and should have it this week, and would only be able get in about another 250-300km before the Argus so thinking that its not a great idea to make any changes this late. Am I just being too cautious or should I go ahead and change it ?

It took me about 2weeks to get use to the q-rings. I fitted mine during my base period so I got some decent hours in before I did some intensity.

So If you planning to race at the Argus I would rather leave it till afterwards as your legs need some time to get use to them at intensity.. just my 2c

I fitted a 32T Oval on the MX8000 1X11 and I keep on telling myself.....30 on the climb, 34 on the flats, 30 on the climb, 34 on the flats........Eureka.....I am a believer...!

Seriaasly I agree not sure how that is suppose to work so I am going for the placebo....

Love the Oval ring though.

*sorry for the hijack*

I bought a set of Rotor Qrings last year(110BCD) but the didn't work with my Ultegra 6800 crankset which I was told it would. I am now actually looking for 130BCD Rotor QRings or Osymetric rings which will work with my crankset or will I have to get a new crank to go with the rings?? All advice will be appreciated. Thanks Guys.

hmmm ok so if I upgrade the borrowed ring to married ring there's a difference in performance of the bike....

<don't try this at home>

that was y exact thoughts, and with the next few days being somewhat of a taper period, I won't get too much time in with them.
