How did they T-bone you ? No looking or what ?

Ag, we ended up turning into the same lane sort of trying to avoid the collision we turned into the same lane.

Damn Slowbee that is frustrating - you play it by the book and still you get hammered. Anyhow good that you are OK ish. Some advise: certain injuries take time to become evident. Don't give the all clear before some time (10 days ?) have passed. Even if your check-up doesn't show anything now.

You and me can share some stories when we are old....I was bike jacked on Monday, loads of roasties on the right hand side of my body but still managed 50km this am.

Glad your ok....

Out on my little ride this afternoon, I got hit from behind. My worst nightmare as there was nothing I could do.

First bicycle accident with a car in 7 yrs.

Now I had a light on the back of my helmet, a light attached to my hydration pack and a light attached to my seat post. All on and all flashing. Lucky I was riding slowly up to a robot and the guy in the car must have been slowing down as well. But I heard the bang, felt the tarmac, and just lay there. Wondering how on earth my back wheel and the frame I love so much will look when I sit up.

I couldn't sit up. The nose of the seat had hit my left but cheek and was cramping like mad. And of course the roasties.

BUT on the bright side - the bike turned out to be fine. Just the rider is a bit sore.

Be careful guys. Even when you are the driver.

Jeepers glad you're ok dude!

Anyone on here have any experience with claims? I was taken out from behind yesterday. Guy was very apologetic, but my bikes fargeded and I have a separated shoulder so some long expensive rehab and possibly an opp looming. My experience is the apologies only last as long as it takes for them to find out how much it's going to cost. Got his details I coverand going to open a case number tomorrow. Just want to make sure I cover everything.

Ahh sorry about to hear bud. I think bump this up on Monday, you'll have more luck. I think being a long weekend there are less people online.

Sorry to hear this. His insurance will cover the expenses as part of the Third Party Liability he has on his car. I'm a broker myself and very well know that, as you said, the excuse only last until they saw the quantum.

The reason for this is that they have an estimate in their head of what is fair, lets say R 10k and then you submit a quote of R 20k. The reasoning then is that you want exploit them and thus the change in attitude.

The best advise I can give you is to ask him to report the accident to his insurer, provide you with his claim number and then take it up directly with his insurance company. If you have a broker he will be able to assist you with it. If he asks you what the damages are, just tell him that you are still waiting for quotes.

If you claim as a third party against his insurance, you would still need to prove your claim. Get as many photos of the damages as possible (both the bike and yourself), quotes and invoices for everything that you've paid yourself.

Do you have eyewitnesses? This is the most important.

Good luck with this.

Not a good week. Glad you're ok and I hope you get well soon. I visited a fellow hubber in hostpital yesterday who got cut off by a motorcycle, went over the bars and ended up with pelvis broken in 3 places, broken wrist and broken coccyx. Just two weeks ago I was in hospital with 3 broken ribs and punctured lung after a car cut across the cycle lane. Seems like it's happening a lot these days!
