TDF commentary .... Time for a change

Is it just me , or is Paul Sherwin past his sell by date ?

Phil is still bearable , but Paul is really irritating .

I find the 2 guys whose commentary we heard for some of the 1 day classics far more jovial , entertaining , and enlightening . I know the one guy is Carlton Kirby .

Seems to me Paul Sherwin feels that he has to talk ALL the time , so he tries to be over eloquent , and subsequently yesterday the TDF passed through an area where , to quote , " milk is grown "??

On the plus side , the scenery is ALWAYS spectacular , and the racing has been some of the best I can remember , for a very long time .

I'm a fan of Carlton Kirby on Eurosport. I enjoy his choice of words and general oddness.

Can't say I am a fan of Matt Keenan either. Although he is very knowledgable, I really find his voice like a lullaby, and after a while quite irritating.

Having said that, I do like Carlton Kirby and his GCN sidekick Dan Lloyd. Far superior commentating than listening to Sherwens limited vocab, where every condition out of sunny and dry becomes "precarious".

I like the "Phil & Paul Show" and I like the extra bits and pieces you get thrown in with the ITV4 Highlights show.

In the UK on Eurosport I used to watch with Sean Kelly commentating. Brilliant strong Irish accent that you had to guess most of what he was saying!

I'm not too fussed who says what. Just watch and enjoy.

Next year I should be roadside at least some of the time. Maybe I should take a "The Hub" flag with me . . .

Phil is getting too many things wrong too often these day, he should just retire already.. he can become a tour guide or something.

Yeah - that's one bit that needs some work. As Cav said yesterday, "you should stop talking to me about how I lost and start talking to AG about how he won. He's a class sprinter"

That is why I watch the Giro on Rai so that i can enjoy the sound of the commentary even if I don't understand what they are saying. They repeat themselves way too often. We have been watching the stage the whole time, or most of the time, no need for both to say the same thing especially when it's something obvious.
