It was pretty embarrassing stuff... guys pushing zimmer frames where flying past me. Was one of those times when you're ticking down the km's, knowing your legs are finished, but you're just hoping they can somehow hold on... tick, tick, booooooooom Jewbacca and ScottCM 2

tjommies3 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I fortunately don't 'hit the wall' the way others do, nutrition and training seems to be spot on. If my ITB behaves, I will finish. My training thus far has allowed me to be pain-free for about 3 months now, and if I can shake this cold that I have, CT marathon should be a breeze, hopefully without the southeaster having anything to say about it.
Jaws677 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Thanks Jaws. Def wasn't my month. Struggled a lot with my asthma. After seeing a ENT Specialist, he diagnosed me with GERD. So that made my asthma even worse. But after adjusting my diet ( Cutting out all my spicy food, caffeine, Chocolate, sugars, citrus etc), it does feel so much better, and i can finally breath normally when i exercise. But now my food taste bland [emoji107] . So i will just write this month off as a dud. Yip me too not a single quality run since Comrades due to exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. But mine is probably due to the quality air up here in the big smog of Johannesburg. Trying a new pump tomorrow hopefully it helps. Terrible feeling having a fat kid sit on your chest when you trying to run. Andrew Steer and Lexx 2
Jaws677 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 For me it use to be around the 35km mark, but rarely hit the wall these days as am better at pacing with regard to my goal time for the marathon. Hitting the wall is usually a combination of going too hard to early and not sticking with your nutrition plan.I'm also usually in a spot of bother round the 36km mark. Thats when Im in the its only a park run to go mode (last km doesn't count) shaper 1

Its about his FKT attempt of the Appalachian Trail. Very easy reading with pretty cool insights of this absolutely mental feat. I don't think I will ever do the whole thing.. But wouldn't mind a few weeks on it at least. It's definitely the number 1 of the big three across America just because of its diversity of climate and terrain Lexx 1
