Too hot, went out with on overly ambitious time, and did not nearly do enough hill training...but, the crowds were amazing Those hills are deceptively tough that’s for sure. And I think most who have done it can probably point to hammering the first few kilometres way too eagerly 😂 Stretch 1

I'm surprised it's loaded already as they told me it will only be updated from the 13th next week. Luckily I still had the previous years plans downloaded on my pc so was going to follow it for the same first week in January. With running my primary focus this year, I hope to clock the prerequisite >2000kms from Jan to June to get the Silver Medal Comfortably.

IF i dont gym, I feel 40. When i do, I feel 24. heeltyd honger. heeltyd moeg. heeltyd jags. I will be taking Jan and some of Feb to sort out my calf injury and working with a bio to strengthen and fix what I need. And then ramp up mileage for MUT. Might give Bay2Bay a skip if the calf isn't lekker. I amcontemplating going with a coach, only for the reason that I'm not disciplined enough to hold myself accountable, but shnorre enough to wring every cent out of a coached plan if I paid for it... But I was prepping for IM PE as well which I think helped tremendously. Also getting injured because I did 2 Oceans & IM on b2b weekends didnt help my plight either. Swimming & Cycling has taken a back seat this year so lets see if I can get to that magical 2000kms without injury.
Stretch Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Mileage absolutely makes a difference in what you can achieve, but yes..it has to be balanced with productive an easy runs. I moved away from only doing speed in my speed sessions to also doing lactate threshold segments on my speed days as well as intervals as part of some of my long runs. 3200km in 2024. biggest year by a long shot ScottCM and Zama7 1 1

Assume you will need to qualify so aim for a marathon mid Feb, I usually aim around 30-40km a week start Jan and then add 5km per week from there trying to peak around 60-70km a week for a while. Two oceans has its own decent training guides. https://www.twooceansmarathon.org.za/ttom2024-training-guide/ milky4130 and Rowl 2

Stretch Posted January 14 Posted January 14 anyone ever done the langebaan marathon/half marathon? whats it like?. I am going to be on holiday nearby when its on so I thought I might go and do an easy half while i was there ScottCM 1

They bus you out to the start at Posberg lands end and you run through the reserve on beautiful undulating roads to Langebaan. The half starts near the bird hides and follows the same route to the end from half way. A quick climb up the only real hill, through the 'burbs to the estate finish and you're home. No logistics, beautiful and relatively easy. 10 out of 10 recommend. Stretch and ScottCM 2
