ahmedbadat Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) I have contacted the organizer of Tough One. They sent me last year's booklet that they hand out electronically. I created an Outlook Calendar import file from it. RAC told me today they will send me the 2017 spreadsheet asap. I will send you a link to the spreadsheet and Outlook ics file as soon as I have it. The Calendar import really helps to do your race planning. Apparently, Loskop is the weekend after Two Oceans I hope this is not true... As I already booked my accommodation for Loskop. I will keep you posted. PS. The spreadsheet contains the races for the whole year for all provinces.could you also tell him that im sure there is a special place in hell for him along with the creator of that route, that race is pure torture. ScottCM Posted December 1, 2016 Author Posted December 1, 2016 ja..sadly.my brookes experience has not been great..they feel great..but the rubbing on the side of my foot has not dssipated so I will be going back to asics next year...but...not with the nimbus or cumulus...but with the dynaflyte. Will continue to use the brookes for less than 25km runs and use the asics for longer Both you and Jackes experienced the same thing. Great feedback value, thanks guys.
Stretch Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Both you and Jackes experienced the same thing. Great feedback value, thanks guys. yup..not sure why it happens..I have found a few other cases on the internet as well. I am pinning it down to a bad design in this particular model..but at 2k a pop I am not prepared to take a chance on another pair. Quite sad actually because apart from that they are really great shoes. Thick socks and shorter runs and they are ok - so they will eat up all those mid week runs that usually eat away at your shoe mileage
Andrew Steer Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Scored a pair of Asics Nimbus on a Black Friday sale for R1300 so I'm sorted til after Comrades. Might look at new options after that though - the new Nimbus are R2.5k - it's getting a bit out of hand
SwissVan Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Yoh, I'm slogging through some runs at the moment! The past week has been hectic at work and my hay fever is flaring up something crazy! Sleep happens but I'm not feeling rested when I get up and it's been an epic mental struggle to get out and run! Feeling heavy, slow and completely out of rhythm and the fogginess of the hay fever is like a cruel mistress that teases you with the desire to just walk instead!Have considered going for the allergy test and immunisation injections? I suffered bad when I was in high school and my folks put me through the immunisation process.... made a big difference. I'm also struggling to train its *** cold (around zero) all day and feels even colder with the wind factor... all I feel like doing is snuggling up in my warm bed ????Plus it's dark in the morning when I leave and dark when I get home now, coupled with the cold argggh Tubehunter 1

I am considering to switch to another brand. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk Andrew Steer 1

Also feel tired all the time, with very heavy legs. A week ago I woke up with sore Achilles. So Im just taking a week off. Tubehunter 1

If I told you what I'm allergic to, you wouldn't believe the irony! Now you're trying to figure out what would be ironic... Haha. OK, I'll just say it. Given where I stay, what are the chances, but I'm allergic to fynbos! Can you Adam and Eve that???? (Was tough getting to this message after having just read Anthony's post on the ghost bike thread!....)
'Kaze Pete Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 could you also tell him that im sure there is a special place in hell for him along with the creator of that route, that race is pure torture. What is the complaint? The weather was great this year. Normally there is a lot of heat to add to the hills

Am needing to get a new pair early Jan, been looking at these or sticking with my Nimbus-Gel

Would like to hear feedback. Initial reviews are... wait, tell me what YOU experience! BTW, how does one know when shoes are kaput? My Kinvara 5's are starting to gove me doubts. May still have some left in them, but no long runs and not too many left - I think. Sadly. Or am I just looking for an excuse to get those Altras I've been wondering about... (Talk about 180 degrees off the Nimbus path!) Agree with Stretch on Brooks. Quite narrow and my second from outside toe went black on every long run with them. In the end used it for my first marathon and after that purely short morning miles. Oh, I also did not like the heel moving around as much - may have just been my perception. (That was on the Ghost 7) That caused me to strike differently and all hell broke loose with my calves. The mentioned Kinvaras changed the world for me...
Jackes Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 (edited) Running the 2's at this stage for my long haul runs... Would like to hear feedback. Initial reviews are... wait, tell me what YOU experience! I've seen they recon it is softer than the 2's, but this will be my first (only only second pair) of Saucony's since 1995, so.... I will let you know how they compare to the Ghost's. That said, I'm nowhere near as technically evolved as you guys with heel moving around, diffferent strikes, this that. A shoe is nice or not and it works or not... Can tell you one thing, had a 5 km's in my Vomero's the other day. Now I understand why they say Nike's is soft. The Brooks are WAY nicer and firmer. They are even firm on the irritation spots We struggle immensely to find something that works for my wife. She needs a light stability, corfirmed by Mike SBR. Everything we put her in buggers up her feet in some area. She gets blisters like crazy in her Brooks Ravenna now on the inside of her foot. The irony is that to date the best ones was her Nikes. No blisters, just blue toenails - falling off... Edited December 2, 2016 by Jackes
Tubehunter Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 I've almost exclusively run in Nike and then their Pegasus range. The only other running shoes I've owned are the Asics Kinsei which I did some short runs in when I was getting back into it a few years ago. Looking at the Vitality Shoe Booster option as a worthwhile trick for the beginning of next year when I start shopping! Strava says I have done just over 700clicks in my current Pegasus.
