Hacc Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 How did Jackie M 25km go yesterday? Sent from my SM-G900H using TapatalkFor some reason I thought JM is a flat route...It was the first time I ran it. It had some undulating drags. The legs felt very tired and I had to dig deep in the last 4kms. The plan was 2:30, I came in at 2:32. I am happy with the time. Overall a great race, well organized and not many cars on the route. I will add this to my running calendar in the future. shaper Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Enjoyed JM, deceptive and the few hills around 18Kms added to a nice workout. Finished in 2.14, happy with the run and more happy that felt good for the whole race. Hacc, Tubehunter and ScottCM 3
Stretch Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 mind got properly messed up today. We meant to have an easy 3:40 marathon and then ended up doing a tiring 3:36. The adrenaline made us go off way to fast and then a dodgy dry wors made my guts a bit tender so I was scared to take a Gu..which resulted in a ghastly last 8 or so because i was properly bonked due to lack of sugar. Strong headwind most of the way too didnt help Nothing like a marathon to bring you down to reality! Hacc, Lexx, Tubehunter and 1 other 4
Stretch Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 P.s. Well dont Scott, Andrew for the colgate ScottCM and Andrew Steer 2
ScottCM Posted May 7, 2017 Author Posted May 7, 2017 Thanks Stretch. Sorry to hear about your bad day out there. Don't stress to much, you've done enough and will be fine come "C - Day" Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk Stretch and Tubehunter 2
Andrew Steer Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 You know, you are right. I should not make the mistake I made in my 20s when I went from no running (but national level rowing) to a 3:29 marathon in two weeks and two oceans a few weeks later. After three years of never running injury free I eventually gave it up for cycling and triathlon.I will start slowly and build up to 21 at the end of the year. Sounds sensible... Soweto/Old Eds/Wanderers all lekker halfs later this year eddy 1
Andrew Steer Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Is it just me, or is anyone else suddenly experience heavy legs and feel like you havent run in ages. Maybe its just the Comrades stress. Lol My legs are also moeg... Have done two 32's and a 42 in the last 10 days... Glad I've got no long ones beyond 21's heading to Comrades. And I'm doing half the mileage of you big guns SwissVan, Hacc and Lexx 3
Andrew Steer Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 P.s. Well dont Scott, Andrew for the colgate Shot, we had a lekker run... Scott cruised easy through the 32km, definitely built for running! We averaged 5:45 odd. Route was flat n easy, pretty un-scenic... But solid water points and a very lekker race pack. Solid training at least... And glad to avoid the hub Colgate injury hoodoo. And good news, my wife's officially back up and running... Been a frustrating few months of niggles for her. Got through the 16 easy enough today. Just needs to build up her fitness again, but the main base is there. ScottCM, Tubehunter, Stretch and 3 others 6
eddy Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Having last put on a running shoe for anything but a walk with my dog in August 1992, my daughter inveigled me into joining her for the 5km parkrun around Rondebosh common this morning.34:10 mins but at least I ran the whole way without stopping.I am today as stiff as the proverbial honeymoon piel. The last time I had to turn around and walk backwards up a flight of stairs was in Pietermaritzburg on 1 June 1985. shaper, Andrew Steer, Tubehunter and 2 others 5
Paddaman Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 How did Jackie M 25km go yesterday? Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk2:12. Planned to run 2:30 so started slow, and did not mind the crowds at the start. However the first downhill past Speskop, ended the illusion and I settled into a good pace, which was only disrupted by the pace groups on the uphills. Finished very strong but core muscles were not happy with the length of the run.Union Building training runs have paid off. ScottCM, Hacc and shaper 3
SwissVan Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 When did JM become a 25? I'm sure i ran a JM marafun as part of my short foray into comrades preparationIt was very hilly for a Gauteng event
Jackes Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 My 230 gives me just under 10% per hour.. So I get about 11 hours with the external hrm... But that's not the optic hrm... So I guess that'll be lessWhat else is activated, bluetooth etc? Because I tested mine with bluetooth (Garmin livetrack) and the usual HRM strap on omtom and IIRC I had 63% battery life after 6:50. So I recon I would make the 12 hours for Comrades with HRM strap and bluetooh. That's my problem with the 235 vs the 230. But it seems the 16 hours as per DCRainmaker for the 235 is not correct but rather the 11 hours.

Lexx Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Saturday was my last long run, finally. Now I will just do a Couple 21km on the weekends, and start reducing my Mileage. Tubehunter, Stretch, Andrew Steer and 1 other 4
Edgar Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 JM in a touch under 1H48 mat - mat time. It was great course, fast and flat for the first 10 and then the little down hill and then working the last 12km or so. Did 6km before and did another 4 afterwards. Legs felt like lead on sunday. Well done all, every seems to be hitting their goals. Hacc, shaper and Andrew Steer 3
