My X-berg route is finalised

105Km of running, 143 km of cycling this one is going to hurt a little.

Fresh pair of Hoka's to keep the feet happy and some proper mountains to keep the soul happy.

Enjoy the long weekends running, drive safe for hobbit all those heading down.

A while ago i went to two different bio's, both told me i have knee tracking issues but both prescribed totally different ways to solve the problem. With all the training that was involved for tri's i neglected these to the extent that by the time i got of the bike i couldn't walk let alone run the other day.

So i've decided to can my Comrades aspirations and spend the next few months sorting out my knee tracking issues instead.

Is there anyone here who has successfully gone through this process that can direct me to the person that helped them get "Fixed" so i can have a better sporting life going forward?

Another newbie question:

Winter running gear

What gear (clothing, not shoes) do you guys run in, during the chillier months?

Shorts and shirt/vest

Long tights and long shirt

Combination of the above

This winter will be my first, as a runner, and l’ve already noticed a difference in the need for ride gear vs running gear. Running seems that less is required.

Last Sunday I ran with two layers, a short sleeve shirt under a long sleeve shirt (both moisture control). My hands felt the cold almost the entire run (10km), yet I felt a tad warm with two shirts on.

You're still fine man!

1973 saw the first ever Comrades Marathon win by a university student. Dave Levick of the University of Cape Town was only able to put in 6 decent weeks of training prior to #TheUltimateHumanRace. He finished with a personal best, taking the title in a new record time of 5:39:09 #ThrowbackThursday

Winter running gear

There  is cheaper at Mr Price for example, but I can vouch for these!

I do have a Mr P compression shirt for baselayer when it is really cold, otherwise a nice tight fit running shirt (Thanks Omtom 2016 for the small sizes) and a top for example - https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/product/t-asics-mens-long-sleeve-tee/5329

or a very thin jacket for example - https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/product/cs-mens-helium-jacket/5325

These gloves works fantastic - https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/product/capestorm-frosty-running-glove

Same goes for these pants - https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/product/first-ascent-mns-p3-tights/5328

PS: I did not pay nearly those amounts for them, I got them on specials!

Winter running gear

So winter is rather relative depending where you are.

I find that I need to dress up less than I think. The first 5 mins are cold, but when you warm up things get better.

Guess I'm trying to say - I learned not to over do it.

Looking at your location you will def need to run in a wet suit...

Forgot to mention the good old buff.

As mentioned you need way less than one think as you warm up quickly. If you run the time of morning that I do in Bloem, you need my list above.

i ran the whole winter here in shorts and first ascent thermal top.

Accessories included gloves (which were really only for the first km or so and occasionally when the fingers got cold again and the buff (mos useful and important i reckon).

On extra cold days I wore a sleveless salamon (the black from sani2c actually) and colder than that long sleeve one (also sani2C accessory!)

Very very cold days I wore 2 socks and jocks...but mostly it was shorts and long sleeve thermal with buff
