Jewbacca is going to AR world Champs on Reunion first week of November, 500km of fun for him, super jealous of all going including my team mates that race is going to be an epic...

Reunion 100miler is also on my to do list, think Karkloof is a lot easier to run as a first race to be honest, think Reunions elevation gain is over 12000m.

That just sucks. Don't get the idea for the 9-10h medal.

One of these days they will bring in a half marathon as well...

I like the Womens Wally and the 4:50 cut-off time should also have people a little better prepared. Don't really get the 9-10hr medal, but it's good to have the medal names a little more representative of South African running heading forward.

That just sucks. Why do they want to increase the qualifying time. Don't get the idea for the 9-10h medal.

One of these days they will bring in a half marathon as well...

Qualifying time has been decreased by 10 minutes...

I really like the new medals, especially the women's Roche Kelly. A lot of incentive for women currently hovering around the 8 hour mark. I think they've added some additional excitement for runners between the 9 and 11 hour mark as well. All good changes, I think.

I agree. There are runners that will never run a BR, but will have an incentive now to work for a sub 10.

Agree with the qualifying time as well

Both bad

A Wally is hard...a sub 7:30 for women is easier. The equivalent should be sub 7 at least

The second one.. Just stupid.. But I guess it's to try alleviate the mass of people at the end... But that's not gonna help.

If you wanna get something more special than a bronze . Then train hard and get a sub 9...

Kenyan marathon runner Samuel Kalalei was handed a four-year doping ban on Wednesday after testing positive for banned blood booster EPO, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced as the African powerhouse suffered another body blow.

Cant Agree more Stretch , I'm with you on all Points above.

In Essence this means no Women will ever get another Silver Medal again... the Wally should have been 11th - 7hrs and leave them with a silver Gap.

Are they going to change it to a Ladies silver at 8 or 8h30 next year?

In their Grave attempt to not look sexist I think they may have gone too far.

Also when the BR was introduced all it did was slow the average field down as the 8hr guys no longer had that incentive to train extra hard to get to 7h30... The 9 to 10hr medal will do that again for the Borderline Bill Rowan athletes.

What happens to everyone that ran a 4h50 or Slower Cape Town Marathon?

Good Point... sure there will be a few arguments over this once the entry window opens and you have to submit a qualifier.

Agree it should of been sub 7...

The other medal is largely to make the medal names more inclusive - which is also something pretty important I reckon.

Change is always needed... I mean at one point not so long ago the womens winner only got a silver medal. Imagine how that would go down these days  :w00t:
