I’ll pay the 20% increase, but I’ll give it a skip because they will most probably change the route the night before again.

I agree, the route over Chapman's Peak is beautiful.

It seems the new race director has lots of issues to sort out.

Jewbacca, you get preferential entry since you're going for your 10th...

Just thinking with my sympathetic hat on, the price increase is 20%, which equates to R100... it won't even register to most of us compared with the weekends real costs. Flights, accom etc
We would of expected at least a 10% increase, and then we also all know they don't have a title sponsor, so that's millions out of the race kitty. So is it really the end of the world.

It is a great event, they did stuff it up a bit last year, mainly due to the challenge thrown up by the route change... but in general things have run superbly well in my experience over the years.

Race entries going into a lottery, yes it should have been communicated, but it is what it is. It's fair if I am honest... not everyone is as blessed as we are to have money and internet readily available to enter. If you really want to run next year, you will be able to get an entry. I couldn't give my Ultra entry away last year when I failed to qualify.

I'll be putting my name in for the lottery for sure, ignore the sensational news headlines and decide for yourself if that R100 is really going to be anywhere near your mind when you cross that finish line...

Running had been growing year on year and is peaking. Event organisers are now trying to make a quick back on the back of the demand. €15 non refundable lottery fee. Comrades with their new admin fee and R200 substitution admin fee over and above the entry fee. Events with no substitutions...... People will start looking for alternative options

These event organisers get away with it every year . People do look for alternatives but there are just so many people wanting to enter these events that they get sold out .

Take Om Die Dam as an example , last year they ran out of water plus traffic is always an issue but they have already sold more than half of the 4000 entries available for next years race. I for one didn't enter again as its R400 for an entry which doesn't even include a t-shirt.

Hey Andrew

I completely agree. I was just throwing my toys out of the cot. I wasn't actually sure if the ballots were weighted or not and my grumpyness was unfounded.

I will definitely be throwing my name into the kitty and hopefully get on the road. I was planning on doing the 25km trail/Ultra double so will see if I get my entries lined up.

I know the route change was a whoopsy last year, but running out of water after 3000 of 13000 runners is pathetic for an event that now seems to think it's bigger than the runners.

It should look after the 7 hour hero's far better than it does us top 30%ers.

They are the bread and butter of the sport.

Hi all.

Has anyone here run in the hoka carbon x ?

I had the hoka clifton 4 and loved them, am considering the carbon X.

I am an average middle of the pack runner and i am afraid they might be overkill for a old ballie like me.

Any comments will be welcomed.

I love how the information was on their own website but they say 'circulating on social media and reported by news24' as though it was entirely fictional!

hahaha

Oh dear.

Denial, Point fingers at everyone, don't take accountability....... That's the South African way

the running board on our trusty 9y/o trojan snapped and trojan cannot provide parts, so I need to upgrade/replace.

I've narrowed it down to either the Jet 300 or Zjet 460 from reebok (both BT), but before I click the checkout button I'm looking for someone with firsthand experience on either of these units.

Treamill is used at least 4 times a week (4-5 hours) by either me or the missus
