shaper Posted February 20, 2020 Share 2kms extra for me won't make much difference. So when is the course route being published? Edited February 20, 2020 by shaper
Jewbacca Posted February 20, 2020 Share I doubt they will change silver time. Comrades has never changed the 7:30 cut off as far as I know and the route changes slightly often.true, but the Oceans Silver is probably more difficult to get to. Anyway, lets see. I'm wary of getting too stuck in to unsubstantiated rumours, especially those planted by cyclists! shaper and ScottCM

To be honest only reason I took the bait is that I've heard this rumour in different circles (not just CT cyclists). And a TOM silver is definitely harder than Comrades. No doubt about that. Maybe they just waiting for charity entries to close Jewbacca

With how difficult it has been just to get an expo stand booked this year, I would just about be happy to work on rumors... Pure Savage

I was about to suggest they ping you for some inside info on what the state of the expo is, at least, from the pov of an exhibitor...
Ferret69 Posted February 20, 2020 Share Cheptegai just broke the world 5000m road record. 13:51. Only 14seconds off bekele's long standing world record....oh man.....The Olympics are gonna be insane... I'm literally peeing myself Late to the Party, BUT he ran 12.51 not 13.51 Thus why Baderleys 13.48 Park Run "Could" be legit Pieter-za and Stretch

Ferret69 Posted February 20, 2020 Share Yeah.. Like I said.. In the excitement I misstyped. Didn't even notice I had Yeah sorry , only saw that now catching up WRT Oceans, well that would be a balls up... Silver is tough enough over 56km's (or the 56.3km's it normally is), if it was exactly 58km's id probably have a small chance on a perfect day based on my 3h50 last year.... But if it did go that way, I think Id change all plans for a 4h30-4h40 58km Training run.. Will be a proper cock up though and for me personally it will be my 7th and last Oceans. Loskop Ultra is a Great day out and was only ever trumped by the beauty of Oceans (Both Oceans). Stretch
Andrew Steer Posted February 20, 2020 Share I was about to suggest they ping you for some inside info on what the state of the expo is, at least, from the pov of an exhibitor... Fear not, we've been graciously allowed to book an expo stand... all it took was several phone calls and emails, some of which even eventually got a response. I do hope this is all just a temporary malaise as the event transitions... it's a brilliant iconic event and it would be tragic for it to fall away... Everything does seem like it is not as smooth sailing as per norm. Entries, sponsors, communication, expo..... 58km, is it because Gerda would've broken the record this year and they don't have the cash?
