nathrix Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Would love to see a return of two-strokes to MotoGP with it's own category. Without traction control, ABS, etc. Must be up to the skill of the rider. Maybe then I'll start watching MotoGP again. THE MotoGP QUESTION: Two-StrokesWe asked eight MotoGP riders if they would welcome a return to 500cc two-stroke engines for, say, 2017. The answers may surprise you.http://www.cycleworld.com/2015/08/18/would-motogp-riders-welcome-return-to-racing-500cc-two-stroke-engines/ History of the 500cc two-stroke Grand Prix bikehttp://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/news-and-views/features/bikes/history-of-the-500cc-two-stroke-grand-prix-bike/ http://images.bennetts.co.uk/Global/Social/5002strokeAnstey800.jpg http://images.bennetts.co.uk/Global/Social/5002strokeRossi800.jpg Edited September 4, 2015 by nathrix ® ©™ Captain Fastbastard Mayhem and Wannabe 2
nathrix Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 "And now for the big question. Speak to Kevin Schwantz, Mick Doohan or even Vale and they will tell you the same thing. Even with half the capacity of the current four-stroke MotoGP machines, if you ran a two-stroke today with the benefit of latest electronics and plenty of fuel capacity then this would be the machine to beat."

nickc Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Now for some insane 2 stroke technology: Suzuki`s world championship winning 125cc 1967 model. 125 cc 4 cylinder square 4 two stroke motor reving to 16500 rpm - what size were those pistons - madness, must have looked like little tot glasses. 12 speed gear box - top speed of 250 kph, not bad for a 2t in 1967. That's going to be interesting to follow.... Steven Knoetze (sk27), nathrix and Wannabe 3
Wannabe Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 And who will be racing them? Dave should still be competitive on them.
