Why are you guys at the sharp end so nasty with each other, swearing and riding into each other?  :whistling:

oh it was justified - some folks just lose concentration or don't think and they do silly things like swerving in the middle of the bunch. On the whole, most people really great and enjoyed the outing.

2A was a bit hectic up front with a cervelo team doing a lot of damage to the main field. We caught 1G - 1J & if not more along the route. Anyone know who they are? I picked up that it was a mix of UK and SA guys. I managed a 03:07

Had a chat with them seems they from all over the world.  Rode with them until my chain came off going up chappies had to get off as it twisted.  Came in with a 3:05 I had a green Nulandis top on.

Think the organizers will have something (rules) in place for such thing to happen. Price money should go to $.

Chances for for it to happen is also really small...but possible for sure.

if you win from -1A prepare yourself for some blood test afterwards and make sure your bike weights less than 6.8kg...hahaha

been tried unsuccessfully before. Ballhairs gooied them out. hhttp://mini.iol.co.za/sport/disqualified-couple-s-remarkable-races-92694ttp://mini.iol.co.za/sport/disqualified-couple-s-remarkable-races-92694

Wow so much hate for Nolan Hoffman, i don't recall other ex-doppers getting the same treatment Nolan is getting right here so I can only attribute it to...never mind it's not Friday yet.

Watch the replay & you'll see he was boxed in, his own fault though as he didn't know who to mark/follow & left it too late to kick, but seriously let it go guys.

Hi. i had a great ride on this Argus (even after starting later than my group.) Linked up on the ride with a guy named Desmond who hails from Barkely East in the Eastern Cape. we rode together and carved our way through the field, but I had to stop in Hout bay, where my Son and wife were waiting with fresh bottle of cold water, then lost him. Would like to thank him for great ride together, but did not get his surname. If any of you know him, tell him I posted this. He wore a Group 3C number, and should have finished around 3h 30, as i did. This ride made me think of the Comrades marathon and the ethics and comeraderie there. Regards and hope you ALL had a GREAT RIDE !!!

there's a bike nut farmer from barkley East that I know of from freedom challenge. Ray sephton, think he is on the hub as Barkley Boy. Call him a bike nut as they go riding when it's really really really cold, and need to drive about 60km to get to the tar when doing a Road ride! He would know your Desmond.

Argus #19 for me, but don't really have a seeding now so started back in 4C. Definitely the first time I've done it without seeing a single crash. So maybe that says something.

Great day out, warmed up with a ride to the start from muizenberg... Wasn't add much fun going home with the south easter!

1E were a bunch of nervous wrecks. Completely my fault for constantly hanging around in the 2nd half of the bunch but surviving without a major bunch crunch was a miracle.

Agreed. 1E was a mess. I got into the start shoot dead last after the customary pics with family and having one of the Roadcover riders fix my breaks.

Riding that far back was just scary.

Had a general shocker today but not enough to put a dampener on a great day out in such an amazing city.

My recovery food of choice is massive sushi platter and some Icey Stellenbrau's. Nice.

I did a 3.58. My best ever on try nr 5. Worked with a froend and he pulled and pushed and motivated the whole almost 4 hours to get me in under 4. But it was worth it. Was a fun day.

Going up Suikerbossie we saw a tandem rider being treated for what looked like a heart attach. Medic and a fellow rider was giving hectic cpr on the roadside. This was about 11 o clock.

Does anyone know anything about it?

Was walking to my start when I found an old Varsity mate who was in 3D (I was in 2H) so I decided to fall back and start qith him.

We had our first crash right next to us going up Hospital hill. Two guys touched wheels and one went down hard.

No other scares but saw three guys being tended on stretchers by Medics.

Had a lovely ride, not stressed or really racing until Suikerbossie after which I rode hard until tbe end. No real bunches though just one long exercise in moving through a peleton.

Finished in 3h36 on my Garmin. About 30 minutes ahead of where my training deserved.

Great day out

Thank, aVenge & others for the cool and positive comments.

So relieved to have no physical harm. :P

Phew!

Roll On In Peace, awesome hoops.

The best I've owned.

Rim damaged and spoke broken.

And, again, what a special festival celebrating cycling in South Africa.

May lots of the moola go to awesome causes and initiatives.

Hard luck Dale. Glad you are ok.

Ok, so when do you think the ride reports from the 6hr+ riders will start rolling in?

Probably only tomorrow. 6 hours on a bike is rough going especially if there are beerholes throughout the route...
