I have done 2 x 27km rides this week,  200 points for each ride, which means only 1 day of rest allowed at the cap of 1200.

Yup, but as stated above, this system is in place for 2016, not really meant for now.

2016, if you do a 100km ride you will get 3000 points.

(My first goal was 1500, work that one out :P )

When you get the circle telling you how many points you have this week and it says just beneath "last weeks goal achieved"

Did you click on the Rewards button below (white cup on yellow circle)?  you will then get the option to Redeem your reward where you can choose

Yup, I've done exactly that, and when I click on rewards, it says you dont have any rewards at the moment.

Frustrating...

Funny thing, this goal thing now has me riding 6 times a week, damn discovery changing my habits... Its like they did it on purpose.

And then they change the goal (posts) for 2016.

Each rewards cycle runs from Sat-Fri (not Wed-Wed) with the reward becoming available on the Wed after the cycle has ended.

I hope that helps, I was in the same boat and got hold of them via FB. To their credit they responded almost instantly.

I'm 50 points away from my first reward - target was 1000 and got there with training indoors with a broken collarbone... I think they should give me an XL smoothie for the next few weeks , they have all the records that I was in hospital

I struggle to link my Strava app to the discovery app. I get this error- {“code”:403,”message”:”forbidden”,”errors”:”bad request”}

Does anyone else also get this error? If so, what should I do?

I did send Vitality an e-mail and still wait for them to contact me.

I signed up and got the app and Strava sync etc all sorted a week and a half ago.

Was straight onto a target of 1200 points, off the bat.

My only quibble is this...

A target of 1200 points, is obviously given to somebody who's quite athletic, right...?

I mean, they must have derived your target from some form of training history/data...

So, if you're the type of member/athlete who's automatically prescribed the maximum target, surely Discovery should take into account that sports people of this "caliber", are generally training pretty hard, and should often be taking more than 1 single rest day off per week.

To hit 1200 points, one needs to train 6 days a week.

So, unless i go and buy/make use of some kind of fitness watch or band that tracks steps etc, if i take 2 rest days, I miss the target...

Or am i missing something...?

No you are not missing anything!

Am in the same scenario which messes up my training program, am almost on the point of walking a Saturday morning park run to get the 500 points, make it a rest day by walking which will give me some flexibility for the other days.

Also if you train twice in a day, you only get points for one of the sessions and not both!

Points system is changing for next year, so hopefully will be better orientated for athletes training

Feck, okes. Read!!! I've covered this numerous times.

I've hit the targets both weeks, but purely because they've been post 947 chill weeks, for a bit of a mental and physical break from chasing watts and tss, so i've been jogging and doing a bit of strength training at gym.

But when i'm back to flat out training on the bike, gym time is reduced, so is run time.

And i definitely generally rest 2 days a week.

This may actually promote that 'walk into gym just to swipe the card' that lazy people do.

And driving through the hood at 30km/h in the car with the Garmin on, twice a week for 300 points.

Here you go, to make it easy.

Yes, I'm drunk, and popped 6 Adcodol 30 min ago.

No, it doesn't excuse your laziness

Got my reward this morning too.

As for next year, it looks promising... unless the fitness goal target increases according to your activity levels, i.e. You would get 1500 points for a 50-99Km road cycle or 120 - 359 minutes moderate device workout or 90-119 minute vigorous device workout. I assume the goal will not be 1500 points as that would imply only one workout per week. I think their objective is to get people working out daily, hence the lower level points.

Suddenly the "free" stuff requires actual work.

I would imagine that they base it on the effort involved given that mtb is so variable in nature.

So until I'm told it's incorrect, go by time and vigorous or moderate effort on device

It's really really difficult to give a static level of distance for mtb. Road by comparison is a simple surface, unchanging in everything but elevation.

Mtb is far more effort for the distance

Going back to my original post with the points breakdown showing on Vitality's website:

Currently you'd get up to 5000 points for an event (dependent on distance only) so I really hope the above 1500 and 3000 points on offer is for a ride rather than an event. But the fact that they put device workout for the same amount of points doesn't bother me if it's event or ride.

The points to maintain Diamond status is one thing, but to achieve the weekly goal to get the zero cost benefit for gym membership, flights, etc., is important - that's where some real savings can be achieved.

BTW - good to see a round of golf only gets 100 points. These days with golf courses punting golf carts over walking, it's hardly a workout.

If you'd read my posts, you'd have seen that I made mention of a soft cap of 1200 points per week for the goals. Won't go above that. If you're meeting that every week you are their preferred client.

If that changes, I'll let you know.

On that... those who have had a limit of 1200 - has it risen above that point yet? I know it did for some ppl after launch but that was apparently an error

As mentioned previously on this thread, the points for 2016 is different to how it currently works.

Scroll back a page or two (post 724) to see how points will be earned for 2016 - it is much easier to get 1200 points.
