Android box or like me an old PC laptop with HDMI output.

Make sure you are hardwired in.

DO NOT RELY ON WIFI for seamless streaming, you will pull your hair out and have less than I already do. I went through this battle as I only used wifi when I started and almost went back to dare I say D S T V

On my 25mb up and down line the wifi ping is average 24ms and I get the throughput just fine, hardwired in my ping is 3ms to at worst 5ms with the same throughput and the stream is seamless. Not a single jitter or jump streaming 1080p

mine is connected by wifi and i have no issues...although it is literally on top of my router

My old box was connected via WIfi  which was approximately 15m away and through 3 walls.

A few seconds delay between voice and video while streaming from a shared folder on the PC. Never tried online streaming.

Ran an ethernet cable and life was bliss after that.

Mine connected Via WiFi, Running a Pi3 with WiFi dongle about 4m away from Router. Zero Hassles

However I Mostly only stream 720p.

my media server is however connected directly to the Router..

... Question, tried Saturday and Sunday to stream the Giro from Eurosport 1, Link 2. (via the Turks AddOn)

Very unstable... and kept on buffering or kicking out.

Have a 20Mb VDSL line,

Running Kodi 17 on Pi3, Hardwired into network.

Anyone else having problems? Wanna get this working nicely before TdF

The stream from the actual source (both HD and SD) was pixelating badly so I expect the "Free" stream was unwatchable.

What add on will you use to watch the TDF?

Unfortunately it's not a sure thing this streaming. Sometimes you get lucky and other days it's a rubbish stream that constantly buffers and may or may not be watchable. Might still be issues with the SEACOM cable as well.

Don't know yet.

Thinking it will be on Eurosport

UK ITV4 will also be covering the Tour http://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/racing/tour-de-france/tour-de-france-live-tv-guide-233516

Also you can try the Canadian channels Sportsnet

NBC Sports is covering it http://www.nbcsports.com/cycling-schedule

I think TSN will also be showing the TdF (you will need to check closer to the time) http://www.tsn.ca/tv#/TSN1

Finally if all else fails try Bein Sports or Star Sports

I might be getting old and cynical but I can see the value in using these to save some money and use alternative services (and be cool I suppose) but I couldn't be bothered with the hassle till it really becomes 'main stream' and works consistently every time ... seems a bit like downloading pirate music/movies to me at times maar nou ja  :whistling:

Agree...

But at the moment I don't have a spare R800/month in budget to pay for Multichoice/DSTV.

there is definitely a morality thing...yes...but with netflix, ITV, BBC, Channel 4 you can watch anything you want including a lot of sport (BBC showed the olympics, ITV is showing the Tour)

yes..we use kodi.....so there is a little irregularity with that...but I havent looked at the TV in months - and that includes super rugby and cricket

Almost everything on DStv is available somewhere to stream... it just requires a bit of initial setup and knowing what one wants to watch.

Movies

TV shows

Sport

History

Documentary

Kids stuff

News

The best bit is not having to stick to their (DStv) schedule.

Any problems with exodus? I'm on V3.1.15 but it is unresponsive. Even when choosing latest movies it just keeps "working" until it stops, nearly as if it couldn't find a stream?

Wifi is fine as I can watch YouTube or listen to radio without a hassle

Tried with 2 different SD cards on my RPi:

Kodi 15.2

OpenElec 6.0.3

Kodi 16.1

OpenElec 7.0.1

Update: Friend in Pta with android having the same problems. Both of us using Telkom. He then used a VPN and it worked again.

Another friend in Pmb uses Vodacom with no issues, without a VPN.

Maybe Telkom has a problem or is preventing streaming? Or Kodi/Exodus requires a VPN now...

Grasping at straws here!

hi Joeyboy

I'm on Kodi, 17.1 on a Pi and librelec

use a mixture of Spekto (main) and Exodus (secondary) and it works fine for me,,

maybe try updating your Pi's they seem a little outdated..

I'm on Telkom without a VPN

I Use Spekto mainly because I can items to My library so don always have to go into spekto to watch series, but straight to my library, and Exodus for when i'm struggling to find a stream in Spekto.

the other thing is do you have auto stream on?

i had to remove mine and manually find a stream as auto stream would come up with no stream available,

hope many happy hours of viewing ahead..

Hi. I think you are spot on with the need to upgrade the Kodi to 17 and see what difference that makes.

This evening I plugged in my Roku and although I could watch Sky, YouTube was a waste of time. Even on our phones Facebook would load but not the videos. I did a Speedtest and have 15mb/s download which should be enough.

I'm thinking now that my signal isn't consistent so it worked well for the speedtest but then comes and goes, giving me the issues with loading add-ons.

We had a power failure 2 days ago, wonder if that has something to do with it.

Thanks for the advice :-)
