Good news with the information what the judge had.  Would have been good had the police done the alcohol test immediately (why this is not standard procedure I don't know).

Now for the interresting part ... sentencing.  As I said many times before that this is normally in my opinion where the wheels of justice come off.

Afraid you are right.

Yes, I wonder if he will get more for killing 2 people than Momberg got for crimen injuria?

Chances are good that he might get less, even a suspended sentence.

Possibly yes, which will be quite bizarre. That said, i think Momberg's sentence will be altered on appeal.

Just because they are there doesnt mean they are allowed on the free

here are the laws

Special provisions relating to freeways

1) No person shall operate on a freeway –

(a) a vehicle drawn by an animal;

(b) a pedal cycle;

There's a lot of cyclists on the M4 every weekend, so yes. The stretch they were on has a wide yellow lane, so we can only speculate at this time as to what happened.

Have also seen this link, look at the state of the car, must have been flying!!! So sad and unnecessary!

Yip, afraid you are correct.

This toad will walk and maybe have to do some arbitorty work for society.

Guilty man walks again.

I am not a betting man but I am prepared to put some money down on this as history has shown extreme leniency towards these drunken louts!

Any takers?

Precedent has been established here in the Cape with a prison sentence handed down couple of months ago. Cannot remember all the details, even if the sentence was considered harsh or not.  Was a Dr on Bottelary Road that was killed.

I saw this a few days ago and apparently its fairly standard that he will be found guilty once people have died. The real telling point is in the sentencing which many believe will be quite light.

i really hope it isnt the case though.

Regardless of that outcome there are now at least 2 broken families.

I think the sentence will be a welcome surprise. The judge is not an idiot, he knows the guy was drunk and doing +200km/h.
