RIP young man.

Sadly, the answer is more than likely "never...."

I commute on a motorbike all week, and the transgressions, disregard for rules, people not being "in then present", malicious actions to others; its beyond comprehension.

I realize I am probably crazy to do it, given the people i am forced to interact with on the roads, but the 8 hours I don't spend behind the wheel make up for it, IMO.

Whether on a bike or bicycle, we are at the mercy of poorly trained drivers, and poorly maintained vehicles.

Be safe out there, and be kind & considerate to others.

Sad to say, this will never end. In fact, it's probably going to get worse. SUCKS.

The middle class is growing and so are the number of cars (unfortunately not the number of drivers licenses...). The number of cyclists is also growing, not just as a sport but commuters too.

Add these factors, together with the general attitude of drivers in this country (and their aggression) and you have a dangerous situation. The total lack of respect for human life in RSA, plus zero law enforcement (for both drivers and cyclists) makes for a pretty ugly picture.

This is sad news. RIP

Last night I saw another cyclist with no tail light or reflective clothing.

We need to do our part as well as motorists.

Please don't take unnecessary risks.

1000% agree.

This is why we must try and be pro-active and look after ourselves......don't ride on busy streets, ALWAYS have lights on front and back which are WORKING, be courteous because you will NEVER win against a car, even trafic light to traffic light.  When you are told of a car at the back, ffs pull over IMMEDIATELY.

etc.  common sence safety will go a long way.

RIP youngster - you have missed out on many miles.

All of the above and being right matters very little when you're dead.
