badly, unless you ride solely farm roads and use DH level tubes. They're that weepy and floppy.

And WHY OH WHY is the X-King going at the FRONT!? Should be the other way around. MK 2.4 at front and XKing 2.2 at rear.

funny - i haven't ridden protection anything for over year - no issues. and that is on table mountain.

would have gone MK 2.4 front but evoBikes was out of stock.  want a 2.4 front hence the Xking.

whatever i ride will be better than the bald Ron and racing ralph combo i have now

Vigi is a more aggressive tire and is actually larger than the Trail Boss 2.4

Oh I see, makes a lot more sense now. I was picturing a skinny up front with a big @ss at the back

just a word of warning - X King at the front will wash out on you at the slightest provocation. IE: It's NOT a front tyre. No matter the "width" (quotation marks there in recognition of Conti's way of exaggerating their size like a cheap gigolo

I do the same type of riding as you and have your option 2- no issues.

In fact, had a 2.4 X on the rear but replaced it with a 2.2 raceking. Has less rolling resistance with enough grip for my riding.

I use spez ground control 2.3 front and fast trak 2.2 Grid rear. The tires are relatively cheap, tough and durability is good. Ride in the magaliesberg where sharp quartz is everywhere and they survive well.

I run:

Front: Maxxis Ardent Lust

Rear: Maxxis Crossmark Lust

I have done over 3500km on this set and they still look very good.

I've run the same combo for a good couple of years with no issues. Had to change my rear tyre recently and since CWC did not have the Crossmark on special at the time I went with a Onza Canis for the back (run one on my SS) and also happy so far.

Vittoria

Barzo 2.25 up front - super grippy

Saguaro 2.2 at the back - nice grip on loose, rocky terrain as well as fast rolling on hardpack

I have been riding them for the last 800 or so km with no issues. I had two self-sealing punctures on the Barzo. One on tar (glass) and one on some rather rocky ST, and both times they sealed up quickly without deflating the tyre, allowing me to continue riding without having to stop and check whether the tyre needs plugging.

Vittoria gets my vote for the next round as well.
