Many years ago when the track was a part of the race, we used to ride it anti-clockwise. I haven't done much research, but it looks as though that is what the map is showing for this year too. I don't think there is any option but to ride on the track itself.

As for the entry and exit, the map shows us going in at the main entrance. It seems to show us going out at a different point slightly South of that, but who knows. Might just be the way they drew the map.

From the steep downhill on the R55 it's a sharp turn to the right, keep right and under the new bridge. Now in the centre of the track you enter the track at the old pits.

Up the hill towards Leeukop and down the mine shaft. Past the new pits and then right off the track at a gate. Past the AA premises towards the main gate. There is a water point as you leave Kyalami turning right to again join the R55.

Thanks!

I could come in via N1/Main Road and park in Green, it just seemed like the longer way around.

This year a lot of work has been done to improve access from the north.

The R511 will be south bound only from the highway, passed Diepsloot to Mandini road (starting at about 3:30). This will revert to a two way after the start process has finished.

I also start at 6.30 .Last two years we left Alberton no later than 4.30. You arrive at 5 or just after. Lots of parking.

After that it fills up fast. You'll have time to kill. Better than sitting stressed out in a queue.

also Alberton & 06h30 start...holy cr@p what ?:30 to get there on time.

Think I'll go with spirog's advice....camping not so bad is it ????

I start at 05:44.

I usually leave home (Alberton) at 04:15 to get there for 04:45.

Park at a shopping centre on William Nicol, suit up and ride straight to the batches.

Obviously the later you start, the longer it takes to get parked.

03:30 for a 06:30 start is a bit early... IMO

Maybe other hubbers from your side can post their experience coming in from the N14 side. I can only share what I've read.

I try and go past Centurion at least 2.5 hours before my starting time. I then typically get there with only about 30min to spare to get to the starting pens

Do you have to cross over dust paths/gravel to get to the start pens?

Last year I punctured while warming up, with those thorns, I'm just fearful it may happen again..

No, tar all the way... for me it's about 7km to the start from the parking (Leaping Frog).

As I mentioned in another post, the R521 from Diepsloot should be way better this year. It's now a one way from the highway to the venue from about 3:30 to 10:00.

This should make a difference

Getting off the ramp from the N14 Northbound was a major pain last year. Luckily we were being dropped off so we jumped out in the que and rode to the start.

Any weather updates? I am starting at 8am and ought to be done by 1230 (I am in a charity group so its going to be chilled). I don't feel like being rained on.

I've heard talk of rain from around 11:00 - though we all know how accurate weather predictions are
