Hi, do anybody know if there is a way if and how  one can still use old (new) wheelset in new SC Tallboy 3?

Nope. On the back you'll need a boost compatible hub, and they don't make spacers for that.

So it's a new hub for you, unfortunately.

Spacers will not work as the disc brake mounts are further out, its new wheels or hubs, front fork and im guessing a crank with a bigger chain line

Just found this http://www.wolftoothcomponents.com/products/boostinator not perfect but will work certain hubs.

Ultimately, everyone can piss and moan until the cows come home. These new "standards" are coming hot 'n fast and there's not much the consumer can (or will do).

So, if you're looking for a new mid-to-top end bike (particularly 29ers and + bikes), chances are it will have Boost spacing at the back and possily at the front.

the only way to stop all the madness of new standards is too stop buying new bikes.

but who is strong enough to opt out of the system ?

Thanks to our tanking currency many of us will have to...

My point was about the fact that all of the items I mentioned got super-ceded by newer "standards" - for example:

The uproar when the industry went from 7 speed to 8 speed and then 9 and 10 speed...

The uproar when handle bar centers went from 25.4 to 31mm....

The uproar when disc brakes started breaking onto the market and the mountings that they came with...

The uproar when threaded headsets became the newer "A-Headset" or "thread-less headset"...

The uproar when a tapered steerer tube came on the scene...

All now fairly common "standards" that you wouldn't have had the frustrations of dealing with if you weren't from the 90's MTB scene...Boost is a new thing yes, but its most likely here to stay whether you "buy into it" or not...

31mm Is old. 35mm is the new black.

Boost will become "the thing" depending on the sales pitch and the only thing you can get. Similar to 29" with "You will be faster or win more races"

Yes there are pros and cons of everything but the builders should at least give us a choice.

Yes.  Who has R195k for a new Cannondale Scalpel.  It's farking madness.  Plastic and wheels that cost more than some small sized cars.  And Specialized are still too announce their pricing for their 2017 lineup.  Expect the S-Works Epic to be about R190k.

Just run Boost in the rear, since that's where the traction gain will be useful. Those fattie tyres in front are like bouncy balls.

The term boost refers to the axle width being 148mm the boost hub can be built onto any rim you want, I think what you are referring to in terms of traction is the "other new standard" being 26+ which is a fatter rim and tyre but not a full on fat bike...

Rumor has it at R205k....

madness never stops when it has enough fools to fuel it.

Like all bubbles, it will burst

Ya, just like the ANC and Zuma...

You just started that rumour man :-)  I bet you a decent 26" Am tyre that the Epic is under R200k. Not that it makes much difference...

Marketing BS so they can make more money, bunch of us were talking yesterday and we all think that 26er will make a comeback when all the other avenues have dried up for them to make money.

Agree

It was quite rewarding to leave a number of guys eating my dust at the recent Sani.  I was on a 26 Alu frame with a Reba fork, XT gruppo.  They were on the Carbon Spez'es with the RS-1 forks. Carbon Wheels

That fork is worth more than my bike!!!
