I was just about to comment and say Cyclefit ask for Richard Baxter. Then I saw the above post. Is Richard no longer there?

I've only recently started the no sock thing on the cycle, and I must admit it's absolutely fine and saves time in T1, by the time you get to T2 it's easy to slip on a pair of race socks

i tried the no socks idea this weekend, worked well and saved time. Edited by MarkW

Anyone here doing Rockman this weekend? How busy does it get? Is traffic normally an issue?

Any pointers for the event.

Hi, I am doing the ultra. Its my very first off road tri so cant really respond to your questions but Heia (cradle moon) has loads of space for cars etc and getting into the venue should be easy enough. I intend getting there by 5:45 and setting up.

having never (until yesterday morning)cycled 50kays on a MTB before means I am going to be slow, damn slow so the ous will just have to ride around me. being a good swimmer means I will be one of the first on the bike...okes will prolly lap me :)

only advice I can give is to take it easy in the initial stages and gun it later.

Good luck, I am looking forward to it with much trepidation.

Awesome, will wait for your comments after the race..... will be interesting.

It is my first Rockman but did Xterra in Jan BUT between Jan and Dec this is my second Tri. We will just have to "Tri" and see what happens. I am sure it will be fun day out.

yip, and I see the cut off times are very generous so we literally have all day out there if we need to. :) which I might need.

I have always gone for no socks. I tend not to wear socks on the run either. In the build up to events I do some training without socks to get my feet used it and try and identify where the soreness might come from. Before the race I apply anti chafing cream liberally to those areas of the shoe and it seems to work for me. I'm doing my first full distance IM this year so for that and anything longer than a 70.3 I'll be wearing socks.

Any Open Water swimming in the Hermanus area apart from the sea? I am a bit sceptical about doing longer distances behind the breakers because of the sharks :)  And also never see anyone swim in the lagoon either.

thnx
