Morning Everyone

Trust all is well.

I have entered the Bela Bela tri, first Ironman and road tri and just wanted to ask if its warm enough to do the Bela Bela tri without a wet suit?

If not, I will have to search the internet to find somewhere to hire one in Gauteng.

Thanks

A wetsuit helps a lot with the swim both in terms of being faster and if you are not a confident swimmer. I would say do it in a suit if you can.

Terry at Xterra wetsuits does wetsuit rentals and has an option to purchase the rental suit afterwards if you wan to do that.

The water is quite cold at Bela Bela, would recommend that you get one.

So this weekend a pad fell off the aero bars i'm borrowing (the thread was stripped). It flew off, I turned around and by the time I arrived a car had squashed it flat. The main issue is that these aren't my bars and I need to find another piece! My LBS said it will be hard so i'm wondering f anyone has spares for this model. Secondary issue is that I don't have tri-bars for my first tri race at Bela Bela. How much slower are the drops compared to the tri position?

There won't be much of a difference, you only cycling 40 Kms and there a fair bit of climbing on the Bela Bela course, if you can't fix, just cycle without.... and a good reason to upgrade ;)

It's not my bike even! Okay thank you though you have put my mind at ease a bit regarding the course.

Thanks for the advice! So lend a road bike if possible, MTB will do if that doesn't work. If the bug bites hard then it's time to start looking for a proper bike better suited to the application. Time to start running again and to find an indoor pool!

If you are going to stick with the MTB, change the tyres to slicks. It will make a difference.

I will have a look in my spares box to see if I have one of those pads. No need for tri bars for 40km, you can get by without.
