(Deon) Posted October 24, 2017 Author Posted October 24, 2017 It's their inherent desire for anarchy and the need to overthrow the current order. Metal plates telling them what to do be damned! So Darwin was right, humans bear the same trait. Same gene?
(Deon) Posted October 24, 2017 Author Posted October 24, 2017 I have 0722368368 as Tokai emergency, is that number no longer in use? I will save the above number as well. That's actually the EMT number. I'd swop that out for 084 124 in case of medical emergencies. Really quick response..

DJR Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 HAHA. I'm reminded of the tech students trying out their "baboon-proof" wheelie bins in Tokai. Was that ever a joke! Like such a design exists in the feeble human mind. I kid you not, before the day was out the bins were wheeled head to head and turned into accommodation. I remember that day. The poor guy had worked for months designing 3 different latches to retro-fit the wheelie bins to make them baboon proof. We found him on the mountain testing his project. The first 2 were open in under an hour, the third one before lunch.......happy baboons , sad student .......siestog.......back to the drawing board it was. The only really baboon proof bin I ever saw was that roly one they had later at the arboretum......but that was a bit too complicated for a fair number of humans too.

We erected a diamond mesh screen bolted with M12 bolts with lock nuts, to a steel frame rawl bolted into the concrete wall. We tightened the nuts with a socket and a pipe extender as hard as we could, with loctite as a back up. It took about half an hour for the male to figure out how to loosen the bolts with his forefinger and thumb. We then tack welded the nuts, took a little more effort on his part but he still managed to break the welds and undo the bolts just using his hands.
lechatnoir Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 he still managed to break the welds and undo the bolts just using his hands. sounds like my physio!!!

DJR Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Yes, it was breeding time and she was injured. He didn't care..........again, just like some (sub) humans
(Deon) Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 Lizzard trail reopens tomorrow. Fingers too stiff to type. Look at pictures instead..
Simon123 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Awesome cant wait to get back to SA next week and hit my home trail. But now.... lets address something. Singletrack. Is there no way to wind one up next to the dirt road up. I hate climbing on jeep track, but find climbing up singletrack so much easier... could also add some distance too if it snakes (pun intended) up the mountain... What is needed to make this happen? For years (like since 1997) this is all I've wanted at Tokai. A replacement to the shitty jeep track up. haha.

A GOOD climbing trail is essential.
(Deon) Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 ...Is there no way to wind one up next to the dirt road.... What is needed to make this happen?...A plan and money. Now we just need money.
Simon123 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 For money - lets get a figure and make it happen. I farking hate climbing, so might as well do it on singletrack. I cannot argue that descending in Tokai is tops. Thanks for everything that everyone has done so far... looking forward to how much will be done in the future. the other thing: directional signage (yes, yes I know, the parliamentarians will eat them) to guide people to the specific trails... so many visitors on their bikes have asked. Just to guide them around the mountain.
