Okay ..... summer is here ..... getting to hot for the high-viz yellow jacket.

The PPA also has a short sleeve version, and yes, it is seriously visible.

Very bright yellow/green/lumo long socks also help. The movement of your legs probably make them even more visible. (Been watching Beattbox riding around Cape Point on Sunday....and his new socks scorched my retinas and sure got my attention!)

Wore bright red sokkies today on my morning ride.

Hoping the movement will be eye catching although it is a bit low on the view from a car's dashboard.

I want to brag a bit.

I am the winner of the bikehub and garmin competition. The price is a full garmin Varia bundle (lights included)

Thank you to BikeHub and Garmin.

Now I only need a Garmin Edge 1000 to use all the functions of the lights.

And a longer seatpost to fit all my lights!!

Congrats!

Recent study: http://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/1541931213601954

"Results. We performed a one-way between-subjects analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) to test the significance of the effects of clothing configuration on the response distances. The main effect of clothing was statistically significant, F(3,120) = 16.072, η2 = .287, p revealed that that a fluorescent yellow jersey did not significantly improve the cyclist’s conspicuity relative to a black jersey. However when the cyclist paired the fluorescent jersey with fluorescent yellow leggings, participants responded from a distance 3.3x farther than an identical outfit with black leggings."

Funded by the lumo leggings lobby?  :P

Agree with this 100%

At sea, for visibility the safe colours are red/orange.

I know we do not ride at sea but the colours are more striking, easier to pick out for search and rescue.

Moving legs with vibrant coloured reflective socks is better than bright coloured socks

Was on my way to a local bike race yesterday morning with the wife...we were actually riding there, and I passed a roadie with floro kit and no lights. I obviously had mine on as I now do not believe in leaving home without them (day or night), cause I don't want to become another statistic!!

Anyway as I have mentioned before, when passing under the shade of overhanging tree's and if the sun is in a motorist or other road user's eyes THAT FLORO JERSEY IS NOT GOING TO HELP!!!

PLEASE be visible out there ....

Saw a MTB rider in Oakglen on Saturday morning, BEFORE sunrise ... not a single light or reflector .....  This gent had a few kilometers of tar to negotiate before getting to any trail ....

From Botriver to Hermanus we saw MANY bicycles along the tar road.  Visible and good behaviour from each and every one.
