So organise and host one then. If the argument for entry fee value is per km, maybe it's missing the point completely.

If it's a 200km flat dirt road, does that make it better?

totally agree...lets do SS champs at breedts nek....make it a 200km out and back track...No one will enter...not even the "hardcore" SS guys

Do you know how many Gauteng riders have singlespeeds in their garages & won't go near this event on principle, because of the price tag? In the last couple of weeks I've heard the same thing from probably half a dozen hardcore SS riders - nobody likes to feel like they're getting ripped off.....

Ummmm, many Gauteng riders have singlespeeds in their garages because they jumped on the bandwagon and then found its not for everyone......

Besides, I'd rather pay R450 for 30km of singletrack than R399 for 54km through the sewers of Joburg.......

Did Breedts Nek once on SS for "training" for Dusi2c. It was a lovely walk........

well played...I would pay 700 bucks if they made it 10km less...

I agree D, working out Rands per km isn't what SS is all about, but maybe neither is putting people off?

You seem to be the only one "off"?

Surely these guys are taking the piss - R450 for a 30km event?..... Doesn't matter how many sideshows there are.

Good thing you didn't come to the world's in winterton then. You would have felt like it was a daylight robbery. I'm a cheapskate and see loads of value here.

Yip, its a jol...with some riding admin between. The hilton one was one of the best weekend I ever had

I was in the same section of the dormintory as the Mexicans.

I can vouch for your party efforts.

SS champs isn't for the hardcore manne. It's for those who don't take riding a mtb too seriously. I mean there's the compulsory beers (and sometimes shooters) during the "ride/walk/crawl". The fact that the entire field ends up on the podium means it's not really a competition.

I dunno... a Dusk til Dawn type party at the Shebeen after we've ridden ourselves into delirium could be pretty memorable  :o

Oi! Who you calling "not hard core"?????

Some advice for the newbies - don't do it with your girlfriend/wife/mistress unless she drinks beer. The beer shortcuts and compulsory drinkage areas are hell if you're doubling up! It does make the downhills more exciting though...

If it has to be explained to you.... I'ts probably not the event for you.

Hoping to meet at least one "hardcore" singlespeeder there...from gauteng descent or otherwise....
