Wrong thread, but yes there are reverse trips...

Buses to the start from Durbs + buses back to PMB from the finish.

Incredibly well-organised.

Apologies. Will find the relevant thread.

What proof do you want?

3 years ago I personally helped 4 riders through substitution entries, were your other half and her father not get able to get substitutions?

It is a known fact that more entries are sold than turn up on the day. I could explain the tolerances to you but as I was you are only the question in an attempt to discredit my post and not for knowledge I will not divulge how I know.  In EXACTLY the same way hotels and airlines overbook knowing they have a proven no show rate.

Once again I will state specifically to you that I do not post wild speculation and state it is a fact. Clearly you don't have the same standards if you need to question this.

Well, they didn't, not a lot of people deal with the hub and other places where substitutions are readily available.

True more entries are sold than turn up on the day, that is logical in a pool of 35 000 that a percentage would not make it due to unforeseen circumstances, all I was referring to was your statement about them selling more than the 35 000. I understand that this happens in the hotel and airline industry, just wasn't aware it happened regularly in the sport event environment.

Glad you are so secure in this knowledge, and don't stress about my standards, they are part of the reason I called you out, my tone, admittedly, could have been better.

Thanks for sharing this for me - yes at about 4:39 sec he refers to rioting - not even a protest.

So what the difference between protest (not peacefully - when bricks are in the road and destruction has taken place), Rioting and an act of terror - from an insurance definition?

I have no idea. I'm an accountant. Not a lawyer.

How would you interpret the facts I posted as bitterness?

To be fair, I wasn't specifically commenting on this particular post. More the fact that every time I see a post from you, I expect it to be argumentative, negative and point scoring. I do love your posts as they add to the mix on this forum and you have obviously been involved with cycling for a long time and are very knowledgeable. But, in my opinion, you have a bitter/cynlical approach to a lot of things. As an example, you were one of the guys who were immediately implying that the ctct organisers were lying about the wind being the reason for the cancellation on Sunday. Zero willingness to accept their word, but an immediate attack on their integrity. Same with PPA threads. An immediate cynicism and belief that you are right shines through. Once again, this is my perception and may not be your intention, but I would rather be honest with you. I am sure that we are both very different in the flesh to how we are online, so mean no nastiness at all by my observations.

I believe this is a fairly accurate assessment.

Mr.Bellairs and PPA come in for an inordinate amount of stick from some people and I wonder why.

Perhaps, just for clarity, the PPA had absolutely zero to do with the decision to cancel the CTCT. The PPA is, together with the Claremont Rotary, a beneficiary of the Tour profit, but they do not organize it.

Complain all you want, but direct it at the right people. Don't even direct it at David Bellairs personally, he is just the head of the CTCT, and although he is ultimately responsible, he definitely did not make that call all on his own.

Police, traffic cops, medics, ambulance people, chopper pilots, weather gurus, all would have had to help make the call. The vast majority of cyclists who actually got to the start area, and experienced the conditions first hand, even those who started before it was called off, agree that it was the right call.

My only regret is that I got out of bed and got all dressed up.
