Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Not this. There were one or two patches of contentious soil being used on the track that the green mafia set out to give everyone a hard time about. Until we could rectify the issue (±100m) I asked that we avoid showing these pics. Pierre has always had free reign with his words but with one recommendation thrown in.. Is this an issue? I feel I should apologise. FYI.. We rectified the soil issue.could have sworn it was also due to the possibility of rogue riding, given it was just after those guys were caught but not apprehended...

No, you're right about the rogue element you mentioned earlier, spot on, but in terms of the actual pics it was the section where the soil was used.. Sorry, thought you were done talking about the rogue thing.
splat Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 OK so, politics and admin aside, is Tokai is still on track to be opened some time in December? Are normal TMNP Activity Cards still the way to go, or will there be Tokai specific memberships or cards for entry? I really am looking forward to riding there again and really appreciate all the behind the scenes and on the ground work done be everyone involved. Cases of Bells all around!

usxorf Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 i'll just leave this hereWow looks awful, definitely don't want to ride that.
Edge540 Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 i'll just leave this hereSure does look different without the trees. but thanks to all the volunteers for their time and effort, it's going to be oh so sweet.
dirtypot Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Sure does look different without the trees. You have no idea - the first time that you go up there it feels alien and different, but still slightly familiar. Unusual.

Capricorn Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Sure does look different without the trees. i'm dreading tokai in summer. Those trees back in the day, waaaaaaaaay back in the day, were a total godsend during summer. But i'll still subject myself to near heatstroke to ride there again
Eddy Gordo Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Late afternoon rides will have to do. Then we can benefit from the shade of the mountain

I recall back in 96 when I first rode in Tokai, the place was peaceful and I recall re-filling my water bottle from a stream running through the trail.

I recall back in 96 when I first rode in Tokai, the place was peaceful and I recall re-filling my water bottle from a stream running through the trail. There will be more water available because there are no stream sucking pines anymore, I bet. As someone else said, there is a long, long sun free late afternoon at Tokai in summer. Perfect light for riding and cooler too. Large parts of Tokai were tree free even before the fire and recent logging, lest we forget.
