try 5 years from start to finish. We finished today and now the next challenge starts. It is a never ending cycle(the bad kind)

Individually the people at Sanparks are good people, the system they are bound to is by their own admission severely restrictive which has a knock on effect as we see with your willingness to provide, for free I bet, an EMP that allows parks a management doc as well as an income source. I know exactly how you feel. Well done for sticking it out that long ..

Do you recall me telling you that Tokai would drive you mad, make you old and cause your hair to fall out. I'm such a psychic! Anyone want to pay me for Lotto numbers? ;)

Stir stir stir!

So, at what stage do we start talking about "protest riding"? You know, like "rogue riding", but for a good cause!

I'm not liking this post mainly because of the hair thing.. 'Mad' and 'old' I can handle.

Sorry  Please don't report me!

The launch ride between Rhodes Mem and C'Nek.. I'm sure Matt and Nick will be posting something soon, all I'm saying is cyclists with a penchant for climbing are really in for a treat.

The cork trail however. Hmmmm.... as good as it's ever been.

Disappointingly I went for my last Rogue ride  - of dozens down the cork tree single track, yesterday evening. It has lovely new MTB route markers on it so next time I will be all legal, and where's the thrill in that :-) .

Lovely legible signs emblazoned with the parks logo. Its great that after several years these are now legit tracks. What irks me hugely is that SANPoephol didn't even pay for the things. They were funded by our friends at AMA Rider.

Gupta business model, yet again.

If the trails don't open on the 31st, I may start "protest riding" every weekend...  :whistling:

We know that even if they catch you, they don't bother going to court, so where's the harm?

Let's hope the info we all want comes through soon.

We should organise a MASS appearance for the day it should open.

Everyone ready to ride

This is that classic story of the boss trying to be be rad and telling the workers that they will probably go home at lunch time on Friday then BAM!

Friday hits, absolute dog show and the boss is now the bad guy for saying something to get everyone excited and gets crucified.

It will open when it opens... Go and enjoy the 'new' bits of table mountain for a while and hopefully it will run it's course.

I live 4km from the car park at Tokai.. excited as anyone to hit Cobra and bridal path again, but also happy to wait until it is legit, sorted and the guys like Deon and Marko can bask in their gloriousness.

If we have learned anything from 2016 it is that the government and it's institutions do not care nor react to MASS protest, marches and rallies.

Throwing poo at the Manor House or creating a terrible hashtag will not speed this up.

After 2 long, frustrating years, lets just hold off the hit squads and rash behaviour and call on a teeny bit more patience.

Funny how we know and accept stuff like fraud, corruption, Guptaism and a heap of other despicable things about our government and treat it with a 'well I can't change it' attitude... yet when it effects us directly we are still incensed by the ineptitude of that which we have written off daily....

To do this we will need the power of the masses. The entire country will have to protest like they did in Egypt. I will gladly join. However one person or a handful wont get anywhere

There are many more people who have thrown themselves at meeting the timelines (plural) that by every conceivable means should have seen approval for Tokai to open months ago.. If anyone will be basking in "gloriousness" it's going to the be strava guys and girls enjoying the tracks people have bled over.

I'm not really sure how to take this comment by the way. There are many more people who might not agree with you and would prefer to have it open now since the place allows for cycling today... since September in fact. Between PPA, Amarider and ourselves, we have been trying to get Pretoria to just sign the damned R30m indemnity!

Where I do agree with you is on protesting, I'm totally opposed to it, "but I'm just one guy, what difference will I make" when people have finally had enough. At least by this stage we will have proved that following legislation does not mean anthing when it comes to that one person at the top who just does not give a flying continental f. That's when I step back and let the people do their thing..

Your last paragraph makes no sense - its not funny at all, and its also factually wrong. Maybe you feel that way or use it as a justification to do nothing about SANP or government corruption? You might also feel differently if you'd spent hours and hours working with TMNP for years to effectively be lied to. Fact is many people are doing something about corruption in government and taking a stand daily - this is just  another manifestation of the same plague.

So chill if you want to and let nature take its course. Thing is it won't take any course unless people do something...

It wasn't meant to be funny.

Being lied to, being led on a merry dance and made to jump through hoops with an end goal in sight only to have the goal posts moved once you do is EXACTLY my point.

It is the state of the nation. It is the way our country does/has and will continue to operate.

I merely saying that a whole bunch of folk who were against the mass stand for the pines, against the #feesmustfall etc are all for mass participation when it suits their cause.

I am by no means saying do nothing.

Just don't do the same stuff that has yielded no results, created angst, antagonised many and has disrupted and undermined the process that was already underway.

I am also not here to cause a fight. I do not agree with your disection or understanding of my last paragraph. I think you have taken it in completely the wrong way. The bit you missed was the fact that you still act as though you are surprsed by the treatment, despite the years and years of same s**t different day/scenario being laid out clearly in our past. The fact that it was you, about something you have worked on, you have poured your heart and soul into just makes it 'real', as opposed to just another piece of news.

I am also saying that should MTBers march en mass, enter without permission, create a ruckus and make a nuisence of themselves it will benefit very few. Kicking the hornets nest probably won't serve anyone.

My comment was not aimed at the committee or those primarily involved, more at the masses who now feel they are entitled to ride on the 31st because someone said so.

I'm done.

Have a wonderful weekend
