Us wannabees vs the PRO"S

Do you enter races to ride with the PRO's(the guys with the Shades) and be seen or do you just do it for fun?

I mean, the PRO's do pay for their entries, right???,  and the less than 5% at the races are way more important to organisers and the media than the rest of us wannabees...

Much more to say but I leave it up to you.

Have a go guys, it's friday after all... :)

Not sure what your point or question is?

Naas wants to know if he should pay for pros to come do his race next year, so that he can get more entries from the general public.

How on earth did you unravel this from that?

Thanks for clarifying, I was also stumped on the actual question.

Personally, I don't give a hoot about the high profile riders, I never see them anyways. They are finished with their cool-down routine by the time I pass the halfway mark.

I attend races based on:

-Proximity to my home

-Closed-off route away from traffic

-Nice Route

Yup, because nothing gets my motor going like riding with guys who tweet about their new sponsored socks 3 times a day!

I don't put in all the effort I do to see how quick I can get to the cafe, for fun and to see how fast I can go! if  I beat a few mates along the way that's also OK .....

Oh about the pros ..... never ride 'with' them anyway, I don't see them start or finish either so whether they there or not makes no difference to me

What are these races you talk of??? As soon as get dropped they all become training rides

Not really fussed whether Pro's are in the races or not, but I guess it ups the prestige/media coverage (possible sponsorship) if they are there racing?

Spot on!...Thx. I'm against paying PRO's and preferential treatment but wants to hear from the mouth of the crowd that's feeding the MTB scene in our country.

Hoes you calling a wannabee? Everybody is a pro come race day! Just look at all the fully kitted Spez riders in batch J on that 120k Epic.

Luckily I am not a pro cause I don't wear shades... ;)
