So with more and more of us moving to structured training plans either with power meters on the bike or on the IDT, or even just using HRM.  I  thought it might be good idea and of assistance to find out how many free training plans there are out there to use with Trainingpeaks (TP).

I have have been using TP for the last year and find the integration of automatic upload/sync with the likes of garmin and as such the ease of following workouts and checking performance and PMC numbers etc to be pretty beneficial in my training and fitness.

Yes there are many plans you can buy via the trainingpeaks website, but if you look hard enough you can find free ones

Especially as I see more and more hubbers saying I have X number of weeks before an event, what plan can I do to get fit... or a semblance of fitness for that event.  Perhaps a structured training plan will help better.  It is said that your are 2X more likely to succeed if you follow a structured training plan and as hubbers prefer to spend more on their bikes than on the fitness/training side... perhaps some free plans might be of assistance with the basic Athlete training account on TP. (which is also free)  :D

So to get the proverbial training going, here some links to free training plans:

Hi there

I understand wanting Free, but I'm using TrainerRoad and all of Coach Chad's plans, and only costing me R162/month.

It does upload to TP, so fi you wanna then spend some $$$ there to manage your fitness via they PMC etc it ends being cheaper than buying/using their plans.

I have also been using TR plans, Sweet Spot Base, Build & currently Speciality phase.  I have seen large gains is FTP, and endurance.  Makes riding/racing on the road as I am now stronger than I have ever been.

BTW I have been cycling for 4 years and I am 49 years old.  Still seeing benefits of about 3 to 5% between each training phase/block.

The TR training plans are well laid out and are properly periodised.

Hi Blue Monster.

I'm 42, so not to far behind you, also been riding 4 yrs, first 3 and a bit till April this year was jut ride as much as I could, then I got back from Dubai, got the Kickr and well it's kicking ass.

What I like about TR, yes they have over a 1000 workouts, all based on work out zones in relation to your FTP. but the better thing is the Training Plans that Chad put together, where he progressively ramp up your TSS, and CTL, while keeping the Supercompensation curve, ATL and TSB all in mind,

He picks the right plan for every day you practice to build on the previous and then throw in easier/lower TSS one's when you be needing it.

All nicely packaged in 8 week blocks. atm I do workouts Mon-thurs, Frid not on TR, but sometimes outride, sundays with wife around Thaba. (I got her also onto the Kickr+TR and her friends say they can see the improvement).

Best money on our riding I've spend this year.

I've completed sweet spot base low volume 2, General build, low volume, Short Power build, and busy with General Build Low volume again, (I only have 1 hour in the mornings 03:50 - 04:55, have to be in shower by 05:00 and out of the house by 05:30 latest, ) At the moment I actually do my workouts in the afternoons when I get home, I'm out of the house by 05:00 already. Changing back to old schedule prob mid this week or next.

Exactly why...

I still use my TrainerRoad with Trainingpeaks. TR output/updates TP, where I then use their PMC and calendar etc.

And the 2 sites work perfectly together.

This thread was for sharing knowledge on trainingpeaks programmes, not for hijacking it with other software / programmes that you just happen to upload the data to trainingpeaks as a backend for analysis.

So if you want to discuss trainerroad, start your own thread! Thank you!

Sorry if you think this was a hijack, I was just answering your question in the first post.

You did ask about other online training programs that integrate to TP.

TR does not have any analysis, so you would still need TP to keep track of TSS, ATL & TSB.

I read all over Hubland of hubbers using Trainingpeaks. Now my scenario is as follows, My coach loads the workouts on TP,  i then export it via Trainer Roads Workout Creator and add them to my TR calender which sync with the TR app where i do the workout in.....(man this is a mouthfull!!!). The finished workout gets synced with TP again. Is there a way of doing the workout directly in TP, and not using TR at all. I am paying for TR and TP (coach's orders to get full package). Please any help or ideas ??

if you use a garmin device you can sync the structured workouts from TP to garmin
