Does anyone know if the guy carrying his bike across the line with his wheels dragging behind him actually had a problem with the bike, or was he just putting on a bit of a show?

From what I saw it looked liked a guy called Stefano Madies, who is very "showmany" Italian VB rider. Well known personality up here.

Edit: As to the bike question, I can't say, if I see him on the roads I'll ask.

They spoke to him on the line..from what I could gather about 3km from the end his back wheel stopped turning or something like that.

Thought it was just me. Surely its easier to push a bike with flat wheels or carry the bike?

We missed out on 1 of the greatest cycling battles ever because there is no individual category like the tdf.

You are very naive if you think that having solo entries would have = solo racing. The team who would have been able to put 10 or so domestiques in front of a GC specialist would have won. In hindsight it would still have been Scott, but second may well have been Bulls.

And you are even more naive to to think that I do not know that. It would just have been great to see Kulhawy take on the 4 Scott riders.

The cape epic has ALWAYS been a team event, as it adds the new element of two people having to work together in order to secure a win. We weren't denied any of the team tactics involved in this years race! In fact it was really interesting to see the changing of the guard! EVERY other race is an individual race. Watch Coolharvey race Shurter throughout the world cup season if you want to see mano on mano!

Looking at the hectic "drama" unfolding over the finish line it seemed that the oke lost either his screws or skewers...
