I'm no pro but I saw some really stupid manoeuvring in the bunch. In the end there is no chance that any of us would take podium so can't figure out why people take such dangerous risks?

I saw someone go full Froome in the MIDDLE of the bunch on downhill .  and another went for a full on sprint from left of bunch to right side .. how he did not take out anyone is beyond me...

I know everyone don't always keep there line (i'm guilty as well) but at least try..

Was a great race and really enjoyed , conditions a little to perfect and caused a few crashed towards the end , including the one that took me out.

Just wana say big Ups to the big gentleman that went down with me, after the crash when all the grrr bank boom bash was finish, he's first reaction/question was ARE YOU OK

That was the wrong question, Stricker. Disgusting behaviour.

He should've asked...

"Is your bike OK?"

More seriaasly, glad you're cool and not seriously eina.

Fatigue really sets in on that last rollers from Klappies after 2 hrs or so of threshold.

Ironically, when it's windy, the pace is easier (when I sit in the wheels).

The R44 was SCARY.

Rode with my fiancé. Had a LOT left all the way round. Was kind of disappointed that I couldn't go but this was about getting my lady round without incident in her first race.

The racing elites almost made it around the course without incident, and then in the last 5 kilometres we had 4 crashes.

I was impressed that the commissar actually took an interest in enforcing the white line rule on the run in back to the N1. Last year we were in the gutter, on the wrong side of the road, with oncoming traffic.

I think the guys on the front of the bunch (I lurk at the back in races like this) came to a gentleman's agreement to wait for the sprint - we pretty much rode tempo from Wellington to the Wiesenhof climb before the pace got a little angry. But not as angry as the pace up Helshoogte which saw a third of the elite bunch getting dropped.

I had a chuckle at the Euro Pro wannabee that tossed his empty blue bottle into the bushes with 10km to go. Seriously? We're Western Cape weekend warriors ffs, not World Tour pros. Keep your cr@p on your bike or in your pockets!

Perfect :)

All the big guns will be at SA champs and the weekend warriors can roll at the 99er

I am more concerned on the long term effect of aggravating motorist unnecessary. The lack of official, police and cycling, to cope with 2 events in the same area and the similar time and same  day.

The motorists seem to be murdering us cyclists regardless :(

Way back in 2D/E/F (whatever the group was I was riding in) I also noticed a water bottle flying in towards the bushes along the side of the road at some point.

Based on it's trajectory, it was definitely thrown (as opposed to accidentally dropped). I had to look twice as I also couldn't believe someone would do that.

And to think gel wrappers still get "dropped". You're really not trying hard enough if you can't get it in to one of your pockets once you're finished.

If I, not a very skilled roady riding from the 3K group, can open my snack wrapper with my teeth, eat it, and and then put the wrapper back in my pocket while riding on the bumpy road from Franschhoek to Paarl, then I am sure a skilled roady riding from the 1 and 2 bunches can also manage.

it's not about skills, it's about mentality!

Pace was lekker frisky the last 7km, very enjoyable.

dodged all four incidents, pure fatigue catching up to the guys yet they still insist. don't get me wrong perseverance is key but responsibility is your biggest denominator.

I had legs for the sprint , but what was witnessed all I could think of is my family at the finish line.

what gets me is this is a fun ride ...how do you have fun like that ?  why risk it ? what bonus is at the finish line ? do you get paid to ride like that ?

I just hope all is okay that was involved.

With adequate warning motorists should just avoid that area. But they wont as they are way too selfish.

Actually the worst and most dangerous driving I saw all race was the wanker in a support vehicle with The Bridge Boys in white lettering on the back windscreen. WTF? Been watching too much telly of the pros in action?

Total lack of marshals.  In the entire race I saw 2 motos, and then only for a few minutes each. That is a serious concern in a race without closed roads.
