Is there anything better than Saint Flat Pedals?

I had saints for a short while. I didnt like the shape of the pedal too much, but was very happy with them. I have since moved on the deity Bladerunners. I will definitely be buying more bladerunners in the future.

, ensuring riders have no shortage of foot positions. The Deity Bladerunner Pedals feature a concave pin design with 10 allen pins per side and machined traction grooves, for the kind of grip that is essential to riders trying to touch the sky. Upon landing, the load distribution system disperses the impact to prevent bearing blowouts. - THIS WORKS EXTREMELY WELL

Consider the Deity Bladerunner your new, very supportive friend.

I have two sets of saints, the oldest being 5 years old. It has taken loads of abuse from dirt jumping, street trails, rock strikes etc (been on 3 different bikes so far) and they are still going strong, even though they look like they have been to war.

Wont go for any other pedal in that price class. best value foe money in my opinion.

My wife is running a set of Saints and has no complaints (full disclosure: she's not an aggressive/hard rider).

I've just ordered myself a set of these: Xpedo Spry. From what I've read, they strike a good middle ground in the grip department and are quite light and thin.

What other good options are there that come in under R1k?

Dial'd had the DMR V12 pedals (which have been recommended on one of the other flat pedal threads) just on the R1k mark but they are undergoing change of ownership so not sure how long it will be before being possible to purchase from them again

The alternative would be to look at getting from Pinned. Not personally purchased anything from them before but they have the V12 at much the same price as Dial'd

They also have Dartmoor pedals at R550 but can't comment on the quality or feel of these

Another cheap option would be the Giant flats which you should be able to get through your LBS.

In terms of cost versus quality balance though, the Saints are hard to beat

Edit: Oops, sorry. See now the Dartmoor are't even in stock so scratch that as an option

jeepers. where'd they find stock of anything straitline? Had much love for the SL pedals on my downhill bike. Wouldn't mind the SL Amps, but for that price! ermahwerd

Thanks for all advice guys. I used to have the old DMR V12's, bullet proof but not lookers, new version looks amazing and came in No 1 on that big test list in that link earlier in the thread.

But at the price the Easy Bike Saints swung it for me, also the Saint has the looks and I like pins that screw in from the underside, very user friendly, and saints are easy to service.

That being said it appears the Saints may come with very little factory grease as the majority of complaints I found in reviews were from people that got notchy or seized bearings relatively soon after getting them. I'm going to open mine up and pack them with some extra waterproof grease before fitting them.

What drawbacks do they have and if there is better what and why?

Only drawbacks after +- 2 years of rough trail use, they tend to smack rocks that my cranbrothers eggbeaters wouldnt. Other than that, they're perfect. Go for them, you shouldnt have any regrets!
