I will not make use of this option again, unless absolutely necessary.

Don't have much choice at this stage - and then there is always the question of my sanity  :w00t:

I use the same accommodation in Willowmore for the Transbaviaans and K2C, very lucky because I have first option every year.

I've also had the same place in Willowmore since 2011, lovely little town.

I'm getting some resistance at home at the moment for going on a cycling weekend...

If that was me I would find a new home.   Always joke with my wife telling her I'll take her away on our anniversary... to Uniondale and Knysna.

Tried that one too (anniversary is on 22nd), did not work.

Got "permission" to ride the K2C every 2nd year, unless that year is one of the major anniversaries.

Not even promise (bribe!?) of a weekend in Knysna could swing her....

Mine is the 23rd. Funny story but when I got married in 2006 I was obese, only started cycling in 2011. Anyway, my dad has been a cyclist for decades. He had to forfeit K2C for his sons wedding  :whistling:

Being a cheapskate I took my wife to Oudthoorn and Knysna for our honeymoon. I actually wanted to drive from Uniondale to Knysna but the pass was closed that day. We spent the last few days in Knysna. These days it's nice to make the trip as a family and me riding the route I wanted to drive on our honeymoon.

Since last year we spend the Sunday and Monday in Stilbaai as our anniversary break. My wife loves the South Coast so there is something in it for her. I asked her about being the support crew on this and she said she prefers TransKaroo but seeing as I am only doing 10 K2Cs she's cool with it.

To do list for tonight:

Clean the bike

Box the bike.

Contain adrenalin rush.

Re-double check that Racetec chip is fitted on bike.

Make sure tools, dashboard gadgets and spares are included in box.

Contain adrenalin rush.

Look at bike once more before closing box.

Ask wife if she has packed all my clothes for the weekend.

Busy packing last night .Trying to find space for all the tools.First time riding tubeless.Do I take a spare tube and strap it to the frame?

Good Idea, but I did not have any issues, I were using Crossmarks.

THIS IS A SHOUT OUT - (LITERALLY) TO ALL THE RIDERS FOR THE WEEKEND.

FLIP IT PEOPLE, TRY KEEP YOUR DISCARDED SPARE TUBES AND GOO SACHETS ON YOU. NO ONE IS GOING TO FOLLOW YOU AND MAGICALLY MAKE YOUR RUBBISH DISAPPEAR.

DON'T LITTER!

*shout out off*

Actually it was her idea. When I did my first one my mind was blown at how awesome the ride was. I often tell people doing their first one they are in for the treat of their life. Not that subsequent ones are not special, but the first time, wow.

Anyway, after the first one we hung around for prize giving and they gave some folks their 10th K2C thingy-mamboter-award. My wife told me that I should give it a try... so here we are getting ready for #7.

I only take plugs and 2 x co2 canisters..

You'll be fine btw -

But I have to smile because surely that is the classic cyclist mistake - using the big race to test new equipment for the first time...
