"Only train 80% of a race distance; on race day you'll be fine"

 

no mention of elevation gain, type of course (technical, grass, flat, farm roads,...) - - damn did i suffer

Train in the "sweet spot" it makes you strong.

LCHF is the way to go
Whats your Argus time

High cadence

Crossfit 
Buy deep sections and not a powermeter

Buy a unicycle, it will be fun (admittedly, this was my own advice and it was sold again pretty quickly)

Wayne Potgieter gave me mine... revenge will be sweet one day when I learn to ride the damn thing....

Take the medium MTB, we can put a 150mm stem on and it will fit you.

 

Identical advice to me many years ago from a well known Durban BS (sic) owner who saw me coming from miles away.  That bike hurt me and made my riding life misery for years.

 

My next two bikes were both Large; selected after proper fitment; never from that BS shop.

It went like this: "Dude, with all the injuries you had, you need to quit rugby. Maybe try something less dangerous...like mtb..."
