What is the PPA doing?

I don't dispute the City's sponsorship maybe ZERO rands - that's why I stated the value. From not paying for road police etc - but it has a value which will be in the CTCT books. But PPA members don't know what these books look like / probably some of the committee too. Thus the full picture is not presented at the AGM.

You should run for office in the PPA and then you can see whatever you want to see.

The PPA organized a lekker event today, the Sportif #3. 380 riders got to ride a lekker event, with think bike marshals and abulances. Kudos!

I concur, today's cyclosportif was a great ride. Good route and a great vibe. Well done PPA! Just bummed we missed the others!(and that's from a mtber)'

Whatever else they did recently, I was reminded this morning that it was their advocacy, in part at least, that opened the absolutely magnificent mtb route from Rhodes Memorial to Constantia Neck. Without the PPA and the weight they threw behind the negotiations with SANParks, Kirstenbosch and the City Of Cape Town, I don't think it would have happened. The ride is a jewel, especially on a day like today!

It was more Meurant than that.

I see the PPA meeting was held, and they nearly did not have enough for it to continue.  There was only 5 nominations for the 6 positions, so all those that stood got elected.

In addition:

PPA has increased its membership from 17 158 at the end of June 2016, to 18 314 at the end of June 2017

We use social media more effectively. We also monitor a number of Forums and while we choose not to be active participants on external forums, it helps us to pick up on issues that PPA should be aware of.

Events:

We have added 6 more road cycling events to the calendar and plan to add another 2 in 2018. We currently have 11 PPA-own road cycling events in our portfolio and only 1 major single-day MTB event.

Safe Cycling:

Number of initiatives and partnerships across the country to increase the awareness, as well as support at the ongoing legal cases.

long and short, it really feels that as an organisation that they are trying to deal with the issues and making things move in the positive direction, with the challenges that is faced by such organisations.

We have loaded all the PPA events onto the Pure Savage Strava page, so you can see the routes, elevation and we have included the entry blurb, cost and link to entry on the event.

Feel free to join, we will try keep it up to date as much as possible.

Well all that I have done is put the PPA stuff onto an easy to see place.

Just added the links in description etc, just easy to see what is when and where it is.

You can still check the PPA website to get this info.

And for those of us who bought Betamax players?? Just join Strava.. Its much more than a KOM hunting platform in the same way that there is much more value to FaceBook than pretending to live a fake life and much more to Instagram than avo toast.
