Has anyone else found their max HR is coming down? Not sure whether that is because I am getting older or fitter.

Used to be able to hit 200 before running out of steam but for the last year or so found that I am burning matches if I am over 180

He was getting very close to Jenny Rissveds... Heart rate rise... When she realised she had a 'stalker'... Restraining order... Heart rate rise...

Oh, when the sherif was mentioned, I assumed something else.

  • Averaged 195 over the last km of a 10km funrun, 4min14.

  • MAx Average for a sustained period was 188bpm sustained for 42min in a trailrun.

Im am 31, so with the very simplistic 220-age my max is supposed to be 189bpm. "Supposed", but the highest reading on my entire activities history for MaxHR comes to 200bpm

My max ..... 300bpm once.

When Jenny Rissveds brushed past me.

If you can sustain your max heart rate for longer than 10sec it is highly unlikely that you reached your max.

By that calc mine should be 185, but i consistently ride over that.

I did a hill climb recently where I rode at 188 for 2 minutes and then ticked above 188 for the next 30 seconds to max out at 191. At that point my legs buckled!

So i always assumed my max to be 188, based on the HR data from all my rides.

^^Agreed on this.

My 3sec max effort is 209 bpm. From an previous FTP test.

If you really hit your max you should be pretty much f***ed after that

I don't know if I want to know what my real max is... it will hurt too much

Well at least not without a doctor/cardiologist(or whatever)  present.

I'm 50 years old now and for a while I regularly saw max HR of between 214 to 225. Got worried and went to the doctor to check as it did not make sense for the effort I was puttung in. He tested me several times and gave me the OK.

Turned out my GPS affected my HR Montor's reading. Moved them appart and now my max HR is around 186.
