There was a cyclist down this morning on Liesbeek parkway on that bend just before it becomes Albert road. Judging by the smashed windscreen of the car, the guy got hit pretty hard and ended up behind the car with half the bike in front of car and other half behind. Anyone know how he is?

accident at the traffic circle Princess Beach/main Road Hout Bay traffic circle this morning, police in attendance, it SEEMS like a car hit a cyclist - the cyclist APPEARED to have right-of-way (traffic circle - give way to the right..)

Bike looked perfect, could not see rider, police on the scene, at around 7.15 a.m. this morning, more later if I find out more...

was on the scene just after it happened, cyclist in question had passed us just meters before then, still quite can't figure out what happened.

from what we saw he did not look good at all, knee/leg was complete other way knee cap complete busted, he was out cold and for a long time, actually i'm trying not to recap/rethink as it was a horror sight, especially for me coming through there on my bike.

my brother and i, managed to slow/stop and divert traffic, as there was another cyclist he also just passed us as well as a motorcyclist who stopped to assist with the guy.

if anyone has any info, would be good, but the cyclist did not look in any good way

I spoke to the driver (who was in tears) who said that the cyclist had been riding in the green bike lane towards the CBD on the wrong side of the road (against the traffic) and had started to cross to the correct (left) side of the road but then saw a car coming from behind and swerved to try get back into the bike lane on the right hand side of the road but rode straight into the oncoming car.

this is exactly what we speculated, but didn't want to say anything hub police would of torn me up,

the driver was a youngish boy, at the time also thought he couldn't really be at fault. i've got some photos too, not sure to post

Two more bikers down today. Uncool. One looks like it was the cyclists fault and misjudged an attempted road crossing. Can't pick a fight with the motorist when the cyclist is almost entirely at fault. Accidents are going to happen! This incident doesn't sound like someone who just drove into a cyclist with no regard as has been the case with almost all of the others!

Anyone with more info on the Hout Bay incident?

Hoping that the riders involved heal up quick and make a full recovery!

Gotta feel for the kid who was driving.

I did a 30k loop to century city just to keep legs turning before tomorrow and it was like the motorists had been reading the hub. I was let into traffic, cars giving me a wide bearth, 2 taxis went out of their way to let me turn .... was so lekker. I also obeyed every single traffic rule including stopping at the pedestrian crossing on forest drive because the light was red even though there was not a pedestrian in sight.

Everyone follow the rules. If we all do it when riding and we all do it when driving and tell others to do it there will be fewer smashes and fewer deaths.
