I really want to complete the CTCT but I am going to have to wait and see whether the 2018 edition goes ahead as planned before I enter because these protest are just going to escalate until the root of the problem is fixed.

I live in HB and a Hubber rented my apartment this year for the non-argus. I Airbnb my apartment out so I have a vested interest in HB remaining an attractive tourist destination. It basically finances my jollies. I can see all of the mayhem from my balcony and was working from home yesterday watching most of this.

IMO. And from what I saw yesterday. Most people in IY just want to get on with their lives and provide for their families as best they can. The ACTUAL protest was only about 200 people and the real **** stirrers were only about 30 people.

It is sad that such a small number of people can hold a town to ransom and cause people like you to rethink their participation of what is undoubtedly Cape Towns biggest single tourism revenue generator.

Oh and let's not forget the money raised for charity which must run into the millions

I do not think it will be an issue at all. It is very easy to control unrest, just costs money and preparations.

I think we should startup the 2018 thread so long. . .

Or are we waiting for entries and pricing to become know so we can kick it off with: "Can you believe it's so expensive????"

My plan is to at least take my bike along the next time I go down for business or else have a buddy organise a bike to borrow for the day on that side and then do the Chappies ride with some friends who live down there.

But I still want to do the CTCT proper at some stage. So I'll suss out the response from the City and the organizers for the 2018 CTCT and depending on the results will then consider entering again in 2019.

2017 CTCT was a bit too expensive for me, the wife and our daughter for 0km of cycling, so just want to reduce the risk the next time.

Now that you mention it I do think the Canadian national train system is over burdened with the illicit wool trade but I do think it is a good thing for the Ugandan weather stations
