Metropolisielid sterf in fietsongeluk

Die Tshwane-metropolisie het pas sy skok en ongeloof uitgespreek nadat een van sy topbeamptes Dinsdagoggend in die noorde van Pretoria fiets gery het en in ’n botsing met ’n voertuig dood is.

 

Hoewel die metropolisie die beampte se naam weerhou, het dit op Twitter bekend geword hy was Kris Jooste, ’n direkteur van die Tshwane-metropolisie. Die metropolisie sê in ’n verklaring die beampte was van diens af en het saam met sy kind in Soutpansbergweg gaan fietsry. Hulle was op aparte fietse.

 

“Die beampte het probeer om die pad oor te steek toe ’n voertuig van ’n ander baan teen sy fiets gebots het. Die voertuigbestuurder kon nie betyds stilhou nie en het die beampte getref.” Die beampte is op die toneel dood verklaar.

 

Volgens die metropolisie is die kind ongedeerd. Die voertuig se vier insittendes is na die naaste hospitaal gebring. Hulle is in ’n stabiele toestand, lui die verklaring.

 

Die metropolisie sê nie watter soort voertuig dit was nie. Die polisie kon nog niks oor die voorval sê nie.

This is truly sad news. R.I.P Kris Jooste. We can only hope that some good will come out of this. That our TMPD will now clamp down on people who drives reckless and endanger cyclists life's on our roads.

This is truly sad news. R.I.P Kris Jooste. We can only hope that some good will come out of this. That our TMPD will now clamp down on people who drives reckless and endanger cyclists life's on our roads.  

 

No chance of that happening, unfortunately.  

One of my work drivers harassed this am by Tshwane Metro cops for stopping to talk on his cellphone (near Gautrain station)...as part of their ongoing harassment of uber drivers.

My wife mentioned this to me while she was on her way to work yesterday morning, I just lost my father to a heart attack and it is really tough for me can not think what this kid must go through and the family!
