One single rule will be applied... no drop bars. Please do keep in mind though that C2T is not proper gravel grinding. There are quite a bit of rough jeep track and even a section or two of single track. So a gravel \ cyclocross bike might not be a better option.

Not sure why the obsession with drops but its your race, you can do as you please. I'm battling to figure out if this adds anything to the event or not.

Agreed. It is his race and he makes the rules. Clearly there is a market for gravelgrinding. This protecting the rider against himself with dropbars reminds me of the no sleeveless rule...

Ok. So this getting closer and closer, and my nerwe raak dunner en dunner.

I have never ridden anything having to follow route on gps... (Sani2C there were always and everywhere enough okes around to follow...)

Will my little Garmin 500 work? I want to load the 2017 race so long and go ride part of the route.

Also, how do I get the route on that OsmAnd app? Can I load the route on Google some way?

Please help a technologically challenged toppie here please...

Quite a few training rides have already taken place and the next one is next weekend (16th). Join the Facebook group for all the info on these rides (search for C2T Training rides). The entries for the 2018 event are sold out but anyone is welcome to join the training rides.

I sent you a pm. Thanks.

The 2017 route is on mapmyride.com. From there you can download it in various formats, depending on the device/app you want to use it on...

Hi Warthog

You first need to save the routes onto your phone's Osmand directory.

Card/Phone ->Android->data->net.osmand->files->tracks. Just save both routes within the tracks folder.

Next, you need to activate your phone's GPS and open the Osmand App. Once open, you press the Directions tab (The right turn icon), then press Settings (the gear icon), scroll down to the bottom and select the relevant route with the GPX route option.

It should then allow you to navigate the route, with a woman's voice warning you of all critical turns. That allows you to put your phone in your cycling jersey without too much worries of missing a turn.

my 2c, garmin extrex or similar is a great device to use for events like this, mainly because of the battery, 2 AA batteries will last the entire race and if they go flat it is 2mins to change them rather than trying to charge on the move.

Your fancier cycling gps devices may not last the whole way and can you still navigate while charging.

I have the egde 1000 which I had to charge once.

But i know the Bryton units will last all the way.  - i think they are up to 20h.
